Who you are

Passionate in cybersecurity
Hands-on experience in coding and scripting with Python, SQL, elastic search, or similar tech stacks
Experience in analyzing the security of systems in one or more domains (pen testing, Web Application security testing, vulnerability research, threat modeling, etc.)

Desirable

Experience in threat hunting and building detection signals or in red team exercise
Experience leading analysis of large datasets for threat detection system
Experience in SaaS security or cloud security
Experience applying machine learning models in threat detection problem space

What the job involves

As a security researcher, you will analyze and research ongoing threats and emerging risks in modern SaaS platforms, and work as a subject matter expert in collaboration with engineering teams to build features to secure customers' SaaS environments
You are expected to work innovatively and are fully empowered to drive positive change cross-teams to make an impact in improving overall SaaS security
Conduct threat hunting operations in complicated SaaS environments and drive product innovation in threat detections
Perform advanced security research in SaaS applications to identify security risks, and work with engineer teams to build product capabilities to proactively address those risks
Drive positive product outcomes through cross-functional collaboration with other functional teams, across engineering, product, marketing etc

Obsidian Security provides security monitoring for businesses to protect them from cyber-attacks and corporate espionage. They offer a suite of integrations for core SaaS platforms like Microsoft 365, Slack, Dropbox, Zoom, and Salesforce.

Companies are working hard to try and protect the sensitive data that they collect and use. Users of services expect their data to be safe, and breaches of any kind reflect poorly on a company's credibility. Obsidian claims to stop even the most advanced attacks and deploys its security teams to deal with security breaches, reducing the burden on internal tech teams to monitor a range of systems for suspicious activity.

Obsidian has a fleet of rivals, such as AppOmni, that focus on the security of SaaS platforms. With companies using more and more SaaS platforms at a time, however, the need to secure them is urgent, and the business opportunity should support competition. For the moment, Obsidian Security seems to be focussed on building out its suite of offerings to cover a wider range of applications, releasing more products to beef up SaaS security.

They took a Master's in Entrepreneurship in Technology at Chicago before co-founding Obsidian Security on graduation in 2017.
