Who you are
- Success delivering products/services in a high-growth environment, demonstrated ability to identify and solve ambiguous customer-focused problems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to align with stakeholders on expectations
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use data and metrics to make recommendations and measure success
- Background as a software engineer is a big plus
- Equivalent professional experience as a product manager delivering commercial-grade software products and services
- Significant customer-facing experience related to planning, requirements gathering and scoping
- Experience delivering software products and services targeted at highly technical audiences (i.e. software developers)
- Experience working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team to deliver products/services
- Demonstrated skills in developing product roadmaps and functional requirements, launching new products/features, conducting customer research and/or facilitating user testing
- Experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver products and projects on tight deadlines
- Experience coordinating complex product development cycles and software development schedules
- Strong attention to detail and end-to-end ownership
What the job involves
- As a Product Manager, you will own the vision and strategy for products on behalf of our clients, define the product roadmap, and deliver clear requirements that designers and engineers will use to bring your vision to life
- You’ll conduct customer research, monitor and respond to feedback and metrics, and continuously drive improvements to the customer experience
- You will drive day to day execution and delivery with re-prioritization and adjustments being made along the way to respond to an evolving business landscape
- We are looking for a true product owner who can be counted on to innovate and make business, technical and strategic decisions along with running day to day execution
- You will be working on deeply technical platform products and services so a strong technical background (preferably as a developer) is a must
Our take
Digital transformation continues to be a pain point for many businesses looking to keep up with advancements in tech and the consumer pivot towards online services. The shortage of tech talent hasn’t helped, either. So we’re seeing a wealth of digital consultancies and agencies crop up, like Nuvalence, to help businesses keep pace.
Nuvalence specializes in the commercial development of digital platforms and products, including design, engineering, and API, carried out by engineers, product managers, and designers. Nuvalence also helps businesses cater to two new business imperatives: being data-led, and operating on the cloud. These are both costly switches to make, with spend often overrunning substantially - so Nuvalence, along with competitors including industry giants Oliver Wyman and IBM, are catering to a valuable new market.
This kind of competition is fierce, however, and can freeze out startups that struggle to match the pace of these deeper pocketed enterprises. There are reports that this is what led to the collapse of the Nuvalence team’s previous venture, Apprenda. With this tough lesson under its belt, the hope will be that Nuvalence can dodge the same pitfall. Since its partnership with Google Cloud was extended in 2023, it seems that Nuvalence is on the right path toward a more optimistic future.
