Role
Who you are
- 3-4+ years of experience working on consumer brands in the context of strategy development, comms planning, creative ideation, copywriting, or consumer research
- 3-4+ years of experience in branding, marketing, journalism or the social sciences (sociology, psychology, cultural studies)
- Previous research experience, looking into new customer behaviors , category trends, and culture shifts
- Constant curiosity in understanding why something knocked it out of the park or just didn’t quite work -- and then applying those learnings to constantly improve
- Drive to get every project over the finish line: the job doesn’t end after the brief is set, you’ll be eager to collaborate with our PR, Creative, Marketing, and D&A team to ensure the best possible execution of any program

What the job involves
- We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented team player to join the Brand team as our Manager of Brand Strategy reporting directly to our Senior Director of Brand Strategy. This is an opportunity to help shape brand campaigns, audience targeting plans, and content strategy for a truly mission-oriented company.
- Communications Planning (50%)
- Be the voice of our customer when auditing and refining Bombas’ day-to-day communication touchpoints. The ideal candidate is comfortable working cross-functionally with marketing, customer insights, product, merchandising, and creative teams to constantly improve how Bombas shows up in the world - specifically across email, site, and social
- Social-First Brand Marketing (30%)
- Define and lead our influencer + brand friendlies engagement strategy, helping to shape calendared content plans, execute on product distribution, contracting, measurement and agency partner management
- Creative Brief Writing (15%):
- Support in developing insights-filled product and campaign briefs by pulling from both quantitative and qualitative data to guide decision making. The ideal candidate brings an eye for design, and can help pull visual references and cultural trends as fuel for creative ideation

Bombas is a direct-to-consumer apparel brand with a social mission. For every item sold, it donates another to a homeless shelter or service in NYC and beyond. The founders discovered that socks were the most requested item at homeless shelters, and it became the original inspiration for the business. To date, the company has donated over 50 million items to various charities.
This philanthropic angle gives Bombas the edge in a crowded clothing market, as consumers hunt for mission-driven products, a trend that is already well in motion. Bombas received B Corporation certification for its commitment to helping those in need, the way it treats employees, volunteer work it undertakes, and how it makes decisions as a company.
While Bombas originally became known as a sock brand, it has since expanded into several new categories, and now offers socks, underwear, T-shirts and slippers. The company generates over $100 million in revenue, capitalizing on direct-to-consumer trends that have seen other mission-led apparel brands like Toms and Warby Parker reach unicorn status in recent years.
Bombas is now expanding to new markets and launched in the UK in 2021. It kicked off its launch by collaborating with St. Mungo’s, a non-profit that helps people without housing.
