Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in strategy, operations, or a similar role in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of partnership management and relationship-driven business models
- Highly analytical with the ability to interpret supply and demand dynamics and translate data into action
- Experience managing KPIs, margin performance, and operational roadmaps
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust quickly with partners and internal stakeholders
- Strong negotiator, able to structure win-win outcomes while protecting commercial performance
- Comfortable operating in uncertain and rapidly changing market environments
- Experience leading and developing teams
- Ability to communicate insights clearly through data storytelling
- Fluency in English and German is required; Italian is a plus
- Willingness to travel regularly (approximately 25–40%)
What the job involves
- The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for scaling our operations to make Blacklane the partner of choice for our preferred supply partners (professional chauffeurs) in the European market
- This is a relationship-driven leadership role focused on balancing supply and demand dynamics, strengthening partner engagement, and ensuring operational excellence while managing cost efficiency and profitability
- The role reports to the Head of Operations for our Europe Cluster
- Design and implement strategies for supply partnerships of ground transportation services for your designated area to ensure guests are served with the best possible quality at an optimized cost level
- Manage, negotiate, and continuously improve supply costs, quality metrics, and supply availability within your region, translating KPIs into clear operational actions
- Own and actively manage supply pricing and margin performance, balancing supply and demand dynamics to meet profitability and fulfillment targets
- Make informed operational decisions in response to market fluctuations, including pricing adjustments and capacity allocation
- Maintain strong partner engagement and loyalty, particularly in supply-constrained or low-volume market conditions
- Represent chauffeur insights and operational realities internally, ensuring their voice informs strategy and product improvements
- Contribute to shaping the global supply strategy
- Drive process improvements by collaborating with internal stakeholders across the organization to address operational opportunities and challenges
- Use data analysis and market insights to identify risks, improve forecasting accuracy, and support decision-making
- Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Legal, Finance, Business Intelligence, and Product to align commercial, regulatory, and operational priorities
- Build and nurture long-term strategic relationships with supply and corporate partners
- Present supply capabilities to key external stakeholders and represent the organization in partner discussions
- Operate as a largely field-based leader with regular travel to strengthen partnerships and monitor market conditions
- Grow, lead, and develop a team managing the chauffeur supply side in the region
- Build strong analytical and relationship management capabilities within the team
- Enable clear data storytelling and performance ownership across markets
Our take
Business transport for frequent travellers can be a difficult process. The pain of booking systems, invoicing, and inconsistent service quality are issues travellers regularly face, hindering business operations and causing unnecessary delays. Alongside this, Chauffeurs also experience empty cars due to non-optimised booking processes.
Blacklane aims at the higher end of the market, targeting corporate workers, executives and those with the means to pay extra for higher levels of service when they travel. Through a booking system available on the company's website and in-app, Blacklane provides a reliable high-end service with inclusive pricing and on-call customer support. Blacklane also works with chauffeurs, filling empty seats to optimise services.
The company is also environmentally conscious, operating as a carbon-neutral company since 2017. It offers electric vehicle rides in more than 50 cities and countries, and with 2024 funding, is ready to expand even further. Alongside this, it has announced a number of recent partnerships, signifying the company's good place for future growth.
