What the job involves
- We’re seeking a Senior Manager, Financial Reporting to help lead external financial reporting at Chime!
- This role sits on the Controllership team and will help to own the preparation of our public company filings — Forms 10-Q, 10-K and 8-K — along with statutory reporting and equity accounting under ASC 718
- You will be a technical resource for the broader accounting organization, partnering closely with Legal, FP&A, People, Stock Administration and our external auditors, and you will have real ownership of the processes and controls behind numbers that go to the market
- Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual SEC filings (Forms 10-Q, 10-K and 8-K), including financial statements, footnotes, EPS and equity rollforwards
- Manage the reporting calendar, disclosure checklists, XBRL tagging and tie-out support files, coordinating deliverables across Legal, FP&A, Investor Relations and the external auditors
- Own equity accounting under ASC 718 across RSUs, options and ESPP, including the accounting for modifications, cancellations and other non-routine award activity
- Prepare and review statutory and regulatory financial statements and supporting filings
- Establish scalable intercompany accounting processes and reporting to support a growing multi-entity structure
- Review journal entries, reconciliations and flux analysis at month-end close for equity and reporting areas

Our take
Chime is part of the growing realm of fintech banks and providers, emphasising straightforward, cost-effective banking solutions. It cuts the expenses tied to basic bank accounts and provides users with greater autonomy in managing their finances.
In contrast to many traditional banks that levy steep fees and hefty penalties for overdrafts while offering meagre interest rates on savings, Chime addresses a crucial gap in the banking sector. Its primary focus is on catering to individuals with modest savings who seek the convenience of automated digital banking.
With a remarkable ascent in its trajectory, Chime's current valuation stands at $11.6B since its 2025 IPO. However, competition remains fierce, with other neobanks like Ally offering similar features and vying for the same customer base. That being said, Chime's IPO, rare in a financially uncertain period, proves that it has shifted from challenger to major player.
