Who you are
- Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience
- Proven experience as a successful Engineering Manager / Lead
- Proven experience in implementation/integration engineering, ideally in high-growth SaaS or payments/fintech environments
- Strong proficiency in Golang (or serious hands-on experience with a passion to deepen expertise)
- Exposure to .NET and Perl is helpful, particularly if you’ve been involved in moving away from legacy stacks
- Background in Computer Science, with a strong grasp of engineering fundamentals — algorithms, data structures, systems architecture etc
- Comfortable writing and reviewing production code, while also leading and scaling a team
- Excellent communication skills and experience engaging with customers on technical topics

- Fluent in English and French
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a hands-on Head of Implementation Engineering to lead our solutions delivery and API integration engineering efforts
- You will play a pivotal role in how our platform is adopted and integrated by our partners and customers — shaping the technical experience and ensuring seamless implementations of our payment solutions
- You’ll be leading a global high-impact team of engineers focused on API integrations with customers, helping to move our tech stack forward while bringing strong computer science fundamentals and coding expertise to the table
- This is not a pure management role — we need someone who leads by example and can code alongside the team
- Lead the Solutions Delivery Engineering function, managing and mentoring a team of globally distributed engineers
- Oversee and actively contribute to the design, development, and delivery of API integrations for customers
- Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and customer-facing teams to ensure technical success across all integrations
- Champion the migration away from legacy technologies (.NET, Perl) towards more modern and scalable architecture with Golang
- Serve as a technical point of contact for strategic customers, bringing both strong communication skills and engineering credibility
- Build scalable processes and frameworks to support ongoing customer onboarding and solution delivery
- As a senior member of the Engineering team and sitting on the Thunes Senior Leadership team, contribute towards our global Engineering strategy and roadmap

Thunes allows businesses to process payments anywhere in the world, improving their revenue. The company has managed to differentiate itself from traditional payment platforms thanks to their flexibility, transparency and low cost. They have also avoided competing with payment giants such as PayPal, who they now number as a customer. Other clients include Uber, Deliveroo and Grab.
In 2023 Thunes opened offices in Beijing after entering the Chinese market in 2021. This coincides with $60 million in Series C funding that is going towards the expansion of Thunes into new markets via cross-border payments which, alongside China, include Latin America and the Middle East. This indicates a strengthened global reach for Thunes.
