What the job involves

UnderPinned is looking for a Midweight backend developer to join the team and help build and improve the Virtual Office. They are looking for someone who is hungry to learn and work beneath a world class Product Lead and CTO whilst working alongside an unstoppable engineering team
The right candidate will be looking to upskill themselves quickly while gaining real hands on experience improving the infrastructure of a web application product and its features. While the foundations and infrastructure already exist, this person will be instrumental in building novel features as well as refining existing ones

Our take

There has been a large increase in the number of freelancers in the UK. However, the infrastructure to support this growing part of the workforce has not adapted to better suit their needs. UnderPinned aims to change this by creating a platform specially designed to offer everything a freelancer needs to build their career.

The platform aims to become a one-stop-shop for freelancers, allowing users to build a portfolio, create contracts, manage invoices, create email marketing campaigns and automate payments, whilst also supporting clients to manage their project-based workforce. Moreover, freelancers also have access to a broad range of services supported by partners including IPSE, Starling Bank, Digital Risk, and Banked.

Since founded in 2018, it has helped over 50,000 freelancers to develop their careers with its tools, but UnderPinned has set an ambitious target to reach the 13 million freelancers in the UK. The company's growth over the next few years will be dependent on being able to reach more freelancers.
