Role
Who you are
- Proven experience building and scaling a global, full-stack, data-based SaaS platform ideally within a startup environment
- Deep expertise in software and data architecture, and cloud infrastructure (we use, Azure)
- Strong backend engineering skills across a range of languages and technologies
- Experience providing technical leadership within a full-stack agile team - owning the complete process from design, though deployment and maintenance of the platform, to customer support
- Strong communication skills, someone who can work across disciplines to align technical and business goals
- Passion for climate tech, sustainability, and science-driven innovation
What the job involves
- This is a unique opportunity for a talented and driven principal / staff engineer or software architect to have a truly game changing impact in the fight against climate change
- You will lead our technical team as we build, deploy and scale the SaaS solution that is at the heart of our ERW platform
- You’ll combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership, working cross-functionally to ensure we’re building scalable, maintainable systems that can support rapid growth and scientific innovation
- Where you’ll spend your time
- Own the architecture and technical roadmap for our software platform, leading the design and development of robust and scalable solutions, APIs, and data infrastructure
- Collaborate closely with customers, product, data, science, and operations teams to understand user needs and translate them into technical solutions
- Provide hands-on coding and mentorship to the engineering team
- Set best practices for software development, testing, security, and deployment

Our take
The science is clear - any path that avoids global warming in excess of the 1.5C Paris targets requires us to pair emissions reductions with huge amounts (billions of tonnes) of CO2 removal from the atmosphere. UNDO is part of that fight.
Rock weathering is a naturally occurring process that continuously erodes away rocks whilst storing atmospheric CO2. UNDO is accelerating this process with Enhanced Weathering.
Finely crushed basalt is a by-product of the quarrying industry that is spread onto farmland and forestry using standard agricultural equipment. Once spread, it begins to lock CO2. UNDO’s focus is therefore on securing partnerships with basalt producers as well as demonstrating agricultural co-benefits to secure more customers.
The industry as a whole is still nascent. For that reason, UNDO will have to overcome somewhat limited access to capital while charting a business path that effectively no one has done before. Despite these challenges, the startup’s leadership believes UNDO's unique technology will ensure it becomes the biggest carbon removal company in the world.
