Who you are
- You are not bothered by getting your hands dirty with manual testing, but are bothered by repetitive tasks and capable of coming up with creative solutions to avoid repetition
- Hands-on experience means you understand the role of test automation, and can create scripts independently or pair with other members of our chapter on larger projects
- You believe in doing the job well - but you also understand the balance between elegant solutions, time to market, and product quality so you focus on lean, clear approaches
- Proud of the approach you've driven, you can provide clear data on the quality of the project to drive code deployment
- Exhibit an understanding of agile development processes and good quality engineering practice
- Have experience with bug tracking and test repository software
- Driven for customer satisfaction: improving user experience, paired with knowledge of general concepts of web design
- Familiarity with backend/API data manipulation and testing
- Understanding of data driven testing concepts
- Habit of delivering low-maintenance test automation, experience in Cypress, Selenium, or Playwright is a plus
- Great team spirit, curious, and a contagious passion for quality
What the job involves
- As a Quality Engineer (QE) you have a keen understanding of what it takes to deliver a high quality product
- You will define the overall effort to ensure that innovations from our development team will be implemented in the right way in our software
- At Celonis, the whole team owns quality - and with your experience you'll drive defining a collaborative test strategy
- You'll work closely with Product to understand and advocate for the end user experience, and closely with Developers to ensure we are testing efficiently and avoiding duplication at each test level
- Operate independently as part of a team delivering test services, working with project delivery teams to consistently advocate push left practices and drive customer satisfaction of our product offerings
- Own responsibility for one or more complex areas of testing
- Deliver robust, complete test coverage with minimal overlap
- Drive high quality test coverage in the team, ensuring definition of done includes minimal but sufficient automation and recognize the level of automation necessary to reach the goals
- Collaborate across the EPE Chapter, contributing to efforts to improve overall process and quality
- Live by data not opinions, ensuring your agile team consistently meets auditability goals and that your team KPIs reflect the truth of overall quality status
Our take
Celonis started out in an obscure niche, which the company called process mining. Its first product was created to scan data logs for its clients and map out their processes in its entirety - inefficiencies and all. Celonis' product was, in essence, to be considered a replacement for costly consultants and quants.
The company has since branched out into an even more niche area that plays on the strength of its products and proprietary technology, such as execution management solutions. Celonis' product found significant uptake across industries like supply chain, manufacturing, and business intelligence, which quickly amassed it a wealth of enterprise customers and hundreds of millions of dollars in recurring revenue.
Celonis is king in its industry as it was founded just as data-heavy enterprise operations sky-rocketed. Now, the company is backed by hefty funding and impressive advisors across several industries, still seeing increased investment despite the venture capital market is experiencing a slowdown. Celonis has shown impressive foresight and innovation as a company and will continue to eat the fruits of those labour for many years to come.
