Who you are

We’re looking for a Platform Architect who sees the big picture but doesn’t mind diving into details. Someone who enjoys coaching, challenging assumptions, and shaping a long-term vision with others
Proven experience in designing distributed, microservice-based systems (8+ years in engineering, 3+ as architect)
Deep knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, Azure or GCP), containers, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure-as-Code
Solid programming background (e.g. Java, Kotlin, Go)
Strong communicator, comfortable leading cross-team technical discussions
A hands-on, pragmatic mindset—driven by outcomes, not complexity

What the job involves

At TBAuctions, we’re building the future of online auctions with a modern, scalable, cloud-native platform. As our new Platform Architect, you’ll shape the foundation of our tech landscape; designing architecture that’s built to last, made to scale, and ready to evolve
You’ll collaborate closely with product, engineering, and DevOps teams. You'll mentor developers, align squads on long-term decisions, and set the guardrails for reliable, secure, and high-performing systems. You don’t just draw diagrams, you make things real
As our Platform Architect you’ll take the lead on platform-wide technical strategy and empower teams to make great engineering decisions. In short: you connect the dots, design the system, and make sure it works, now and in the future
Own and design the cloud-native architecture for our scalable auction platform
Align development squads on best practices, tech choices, and system-wide decisions
Guide developers on architectural thinking and platform-level patterns
Collaborate with Product Managers to turn business needs into smart technical solutions
Integrate with DevOps on cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tooling

To support more sustainable trade, TBAuctions supplies an auction platform specifically for used B2B goods. The company's online intelligent auctions use a proprietary cross-border platform (ATLAS) to connect buyers and sellers, offering a seamless self-serve experience.

A feature of TBAuction's tech is that it is able to balance demand and supply, creating a robust marketplace that can best serve traders on both sides. Millions of products are auctioned through the platform every year, a testament to the value of TBA's offering.

Now pursuing global expansion, the company acquired industrial auctioneer Surplex. This move will support growth in numerous countries including Spain, Poland, Portugal and Romania. It also bolsters TBAuctions' presence in Germany, France and Italy, adding deep expertise in metal and woodworking.
