Role
Who you are
- Experience with at least one cloud platform (we use AWS heavily)
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Ability to write software and tools in Python or Go
- Experience with monitoring, alerting and operations
- Experience operating highly available distributed systems in the cloud
- Experience identifying, diagnosing, and responding to operational outages
Desirable
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc)
- Experience with build systems such as Bazel
- Experiencing shipping application with complex dependencies (Pytorch, Tensorflow)
- Software engineering skills beyond script writing (TDD, design patterns, etc)
- Experience with DevOps or CI/CD pipelines
What the job involves
- Build and maintain Gretel's observability stack. Measure and monitor Gretel's availability, latency, and overall system health
- Scale systems sustainably with automation and continuously improve and evolve systems
- Manage and lead incident response, recovery, and blameless postmortems
- Partner with software engineers to troubleshoot production issues
- Build tools and frameworks that help Gretel engineers be more productive
- Ship complex ML/AI models in partnership with Gretel's applied science and engineering teams
Our take
Founded in 2019, Gretel.ai was created as an answer to the gap in the data anonymity market and helps developers get the data they need faster. With their first product being a synthetic data toolkit for developers, has already secured impressive funding, with investors Greylock Partners among its funding bodies.
Though young, the key to their funding boost has been Gretel’s championing of synthetic data rather than real world. Real-world data can be harder to procure because of privacy issues and its inflexibility to potentialities. Feeding AI with synthetic data - which reflects real world without quoting it - makes data collation and software development easier in testing, AI training, and simulation settings.
Gretel is one of a handful of companies - others include Diveplane and MostlyAI - to rely on synthetic data in cybersecurity. The robustness and flexibility of synthetic data has turbo-charged Gretel, which must now focus on diversifying its client list and developing new products for the marketplace.
