Role
Who you are
- We’re searching for someone who has a keen eye for design, a passion for innovation, and the ability to create clean, elegant, and scalable interfaces
- 5+ years as a Product Designer or similar role, with a portfolio showcasing end-to-end design work for B2B SaaS products ideally on data-heavy interfaces, dashboards, or AI-powered analytics tools
- User Research: Proven experience conducting user research and translating insights into actionable designs
- Prototyping: Skilled in creating interactive prototypes to validate concepts and test usability
- Design Tools: Mastery of Figma, Sketch, or similar design tools
- Design Systems: Experience building and maintaining scalable design systems
- Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Detail-oriented: Strong attention to detail with a focus on typography, layout, and accessibility
Desirable
- A recognised certificate or equivalent in Design Thinking or UX Design is highly desirable
- Familiarity with HTML/CSS
- Background in a design agency, demonstrating the ability to juggle multiple projects in fast-paced environments
What the job involves
- As we scale, we’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to join us and help create intuitive, visually engaging user interfaces that empower our users to succeed
- As our Senior Product Designer, you’ll own the entire design journey, from user research and ideation to prototyping and delivering pixel-perfect interfaces
- You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure our platform is intuitive, innovative, and impactful while addressing the needs of our diverse users
- Conduct user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability tests, to uncover pain points and validate product concepts
- Translate research insights into user flows, wireframes, and prototypes to solve complex problems
- Leverage data and analytics to validate design hypotheses
- Create interactive prototypes to validate concepts, gather user feedback, and refine designs iteratively
- Design high-fidelity, visually engaging, and accessible user interfaces for both web and mobile platforms
- Provide detailed specifications and assets for developers, ensuring seamless implementation and high-quality execution
- Develop and maintain scalable design systems that ensure consistency and efficiency across the platform
- Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders to align on user needs and business objectives
- Present design solutions clearly to stakeholders and incorporate feedback effectively
Our take
Electric vehicles (EVs) are beginning to see mainstream adoption, not just by private customers but across the deliveries sector too. Given the increased consumer focus on environmentally friendly consumption, we’re likely to see more businesses look to adopt the technology. This could spell good news for Papaya, who is developing a fleet management system specialising in EVs for last mile deliveries.
The company’s platform aims to centralise all aspects of fleet management, from the supply of vehicles to insurance, riders, and maintenance. This is a progression of existing EV fleet management services like those offered by Geotab and Driivz, for example, who focus predominantly on monitoring only charge and location. It more closely approximates Fleetio, but for electric instead of fuelled vehicles.
Whilst Fleetio may well expand to cover EVs more generally (it would be foolish not to), Papaya may be winning a critical headstart in making them its primary focus. Last mile delivery is anticipated to continue growing substantially alongside eCommerce and on-demand deliveries, as are the associated issues (noise, pollution, energy consumption). EVs are touted as a strong solution to which many service operators will pivot, and Papaya has positioned itself to ride the wave.
