Role
Who you are
- A ferocious tester: You want to get to market as quickly as possible. You will come up with a test, design it, run it, analyze initial results, and plan V2 all within a matter of days. When you come to a group, you don’t say “I have an idea.” You instead say, “I tested an idea. Here’s how it went.”
- Data-obsessed: You cut the data again and again, looking to find the perfect segment in the perfect moment to test with the perfect messaging. You don’t test generic things like “let’s send an upsell email when their hardware is delivered.”
- Instead you say things like, “autobody shop owners get stressed at 5pm because they are having to check out clients and close the shop, so they are missing calls. Therefore at 6pm we should send them a push asking if their team member could have made their close easier by being added to the app.” [The person in this role is expected to learn SQL via a bootcamp we offer.

- A confident writer: You will be the voice of our brand to the customer during the lifecycle. You have confident opinions about what voice will resonate with our customer segments. Your writing feels tailored, not generic
- Scrappy: You will be the first into this function. We do not have fancy lifecycle tools. We will not block testing so that we can go through a long “implementation period” with some new tool. Instead, we have remarkable engineers who can build whatever you imagine. You are excited about that scrappiness, rather than feel like your hands are tied
- 4+ years of lifecycle/CRM marketing experience
- Experience in small business or consumer subscription. Bonus if it’s in our segments
- SQL knowledge or an eagerness to undergo our (mandatory) SQL bootcamp
- Exceptional written English
- Eagerness to speak directly to customers
- Experience being very early in a function (total marketing department of <5 people, with company size below 250 people)
What the job involves
- We're hiring our founding Sr. Lifecycle Marketing Manager whose customer empathy and data obsession create real revenue impact. If you're the type who wants to build a function from scratch, this is your playground
- Measurable business outcomes: You are responsible for all of the strategy, testing, and messaging to get a customer from one lifecycle stage to the next. For example, you could be personally responsible for getting X% of service business owners to invite 1 team member within 14 days of signup
- The brand voice across touches: You are responsible for delivering a consistent, high-performing, delightful system of in-app messages, emails, push notifications, etc. The voice behind those messages is yours to design and own

Community Phone offers a simple landline phone service for families and business without requiring internet. Powered by the company’s landline base, connecting landline phones to cell towers in the area, customers access unlimited local and long distance calls in the U.S that work during power outages.
Revolutionising the traditional landline, Community Phone has built a cloud phone system that runs inside of landlines and therefore grants customers full control over how to use the phone, such as enabling them to transfer the landline number onto a mobile phone or have calls ring on multiple phones at the same time. Its services are trusted in over 5,000 homes and businesses, including Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks. Wells Fargo, KFC and 7-Eleven.
The company is gradually getting closer to its goal of giving customers the best telecommunications experience in the U.S. It has received investment from Thiel Fellowship, Canaan and Accel as well as landing a place on the Y Combinator. In 2023, Community Phone expanded into California at a time when traditional telephone network providers such as AT&T and Cox Optimum are switching from traditional copper wire to fiber optics, which risks leaving those without internet coverage in the dust.
