Who you are
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Minimum of 2 years practical solution architecture experience
- Minimum of 3 years practical experience in working on business capabilities from Order-to-cash and/or Quote-to-cash Business Processes
- Proven track record delivering complex high-volume, high-performance solutions using a microservice architecture
- Very broad technical awareness, experience and expertise
- A keen awareness of architectural design patterns, including eventing
- Practical experience working with high-performing agile teams
- Retail domain knowledge
- Experience in driving architecture governance processes like Technology Selection, Application Life Cycle Management, Demand Management, etc
- Experience in conducting architecture/design assessments and sharing best practices with the team
- Strong knowledge of AWS Cloud technologies and capabilities including ECS, Lambda and DynamoDB
- Excellent communication skills
- Practical experience of high-performing agile teams
- Broad technical awareness and experience
- Experience of Microsoft technologies (.NET/C#) SQL and NoSQL Databases and AWS Cloud
- Good awareness of architectural design patterns including eventing and microservices
What the job involves
- We are looking for somebody to join us our team of solution architects to support one of our business domains.
- You will play a hands-on role working with other architects and technical leads to support architectural work, provide ongoing governance, and ensure alignment with our business and technology strategies. We firmly believe solution architecture is the glue that helps us get the best out of technical and product teams by helping to unite our thinking across business process, engineered components and bought applications
- You’ll need a real talent for problem solving and a love of all things tech and the ability to combine logical and analytical thinking with strong interpersonal skills
- Own and develop our overall Solution Architecture in line with the business strategy
- Design and document comprehensive end-to-end solutions that encompass software, infrastructure, and integration components
- Ensure appropriate designs and technology decisions align to agreed architectural principles, standards and templates
- Ensure that the architecture is aligned with the company's security, compliance, and regulatory requirements
- Actively participate in the Technical Design Authority (TDA) community
- Create and maintain various communication and engineering diagrams, including capability maps, process flows, value streams, data-flow diagrams, conceptual, logical, and physical solution designs
- Work closely with Product Owners and Business Analysts to support business roadmap shaping, feasibility and analysis
- Work with our Head of Planning to help validate, breakdown and estimate larger changes
- Identify opportunities for innovation and lead the exploration and implementation of new technologies and solutions

They have 2 million active customers worldwide, and have attracted high profile buyers including Kate Middleton, Michelle Obama, and Holly Willoughby.
Previously relying on catalogue sales, they were unable to achieve the real time responsiveness vital in today’s retail industry. As a result, in the past few years Boden’s heavily invested in modernising their IT systems and created a new way to capture data on their site. Having adapted to changing consumer behaviours, now 95% of their sales happen online, enabling them to compete with the growing number of eCommerce competitors like ME + EM and Mint Velvet.
This new digital approach has not been their only success in recent years. Traditionally, many UK retailers have failed to gain a foothold in the US. However, the company’s quintessential British branding has successfully set them apart, leading to Boden’s US sales already overtaking those in the UK and the business continues to grow faster there.
Moving forwards, Boden is overcoming a 2023 dip in sales triggered by an unneeded menswear revamp that lost sight of its core customer base. It is now reverting back to its classic formula and planning on further expansion in the US, determined to double sales in the next few years.
