Role
Who you are
- You are a versatile developer with experience in full-stack and data engineering and you have a mind for software architecture
- You have a track record delivering robust technology in collaboration with Product Managers
- You have experience working with distributed teams, including external consultants
- You have 10+ years of professional software development experience, including front-end, back-end and data engineering
- You have designed ETL pipelines using distributed computing frameworks such as Spark
- You have strong computer science fundamentals, as well as solid command of operational best practices (e.g. “clean” code, test-driven development, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, etc…)
- You excel at providing technical guidance through close collaboration, documentation and rigorous code reviews
- You are an excellent technical and cross-functional communicator
Desirable
- Your language of choice is Python
- AWS is your cloud platform of choice
- You have DevOps/Cloud Infrastructure experience
- You have React.js experience
What the job involves
- As the Engineering Lead in Research & Insights, you will be instrumental in developing Applecart's Decision Maker Insights product, whose objective is to showcase to customers the efficacy of our platform in achieving their desired outcomes
- You will start and manage a distributed team of software engineers responsible for building automated data ingestion and ETLs pipelines, aggregations, APIs and performance visualizations
Our take
Applecart uses publicly available data, both online and offline, to create a map of real-world interpersonal relationships. Allowing clients to run more effective advertising and marketing campaigns by leveraging social influence, or word of mouth, which Applecart believes is the most powerful motivator.
Initially focused on political campaigns, Applecart worked to increase voter engagement and turnout. However, in recent years, it has expanded into commercial work, partnering with organisations such as Boeing and nonprofits like The Business Roundtable.
A key backer of Applecart is Ari Emanuel, CEO of Endeavor, a global entertainment and media agency that owns the UFC. While it's unclear if the UFC is currently a client, Emanuel's involvement signals the high-profile clients Applecart is now attracting. Further success has come in the form of Blackstone's impressive $100 million investment in Applecart, setting up 2026 to be a year of further growth for the company.
