This is a great role for someone who enjoys designing testing systems end to end, improving engineering practices, and helping teams build high quality products that support surgical teams worldwide
4 years of QA automation experience across web, backend, and mobile
Strong hands-on experience with Selenium and Appium
Experience with Cucumber or other BDD frameworks
Interest in or experience with modern frameworks like Playwright or Cypress
Strong grasp of API testing tools (RestAssured, Postman, or similar)
Familiarity with CI/CD systems like AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
Experience defining and tracking quality metrics - coverage, regression stability, performance
Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with engineering teams

Desirable

Experience in healthcare or other regulated environments
Familiarity with static code analysis tools such as SonarQube
Experience mentoring engineers or driving QA processes

What the job involves

As a QA Engineer at Incision, you'll take ownership of how we approach quality across our entire stack - backend (serverless), web, and mobile
You'll shape a clear testing strategy that helps us ship fast while staying safe, especially in a healthcare setting
You'll be the person who brings structure, defines the right layers of testing, and makes sure we have reliable automation where it matters. You'll work closely with engineers, product, and mobile teams to build a modern quality pipeline that supports a smooth and predictable delivery process
Own, define, and evolve the overall testing strategy across backend, frontend, and mobile
Set up the right testing layers - unit, integration, API, E2E, performance, security - and guide teams on when and how to use them
Design, build, and maintain test automation for APIs and full user journeys
Work with developers to improve code coverage and maintain high quality standards, using tools like SonarQube or equivalents
Build and maintain test plans, test cases, and documentation for flows, edge cases, and quality standards
Ensure CI/CD pipelines give fast, stable, and actionable feedback
Lead and coordinate regression testing across releases
Mentor engineers on testing techniques, automation patterns, and quality practices

Our take

Surgery makes up a big chunk of hospital budgets, and has a massive role in clinical outcomes for patients. Despite this, surgery tends to differ considerably between hospitals. Differences in factors like technique, post-surgery care and even operating room efficiency have led to a low level of standardisation, and as a result, surgery across the globe is failing to be optimised to its full potential.

Incision has set out to fix this. By building a knowledge platform based around surgery, it is improving surgical practices worldwide by allowing practitioners to share experiences, skills and expertise. As well as this, Incision offers new educational products and services ranging from 3D anatomy models to AI-driven video analysis of surgical performance. Going forward, this diversity of output will be a big advantage for Incision.

With an estimated 1.2 million practicing surgeons worldwide, Incision's potential market is big and getting bigger. Its international strategy - based on building presence in a number of key markets - has been bolstered by funding, and Incision remains focused on expansion into the UK, Scandinavia, the Middle East, and Belgium. The company's goal is to impact 100 million procedures each year by 2030.
