Role
Who you are
- Accumulated substantial breadth and depth of the technical knowledge and experience required to perform this role, through relevant technical education and at least 15 years of related experience
- At least 10 years’ experience of leading engineering teams as a Product Owner or Delivery Manager in a B2C eCommerce context
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and can easily bridge the gap between “business” and “tech” and disaggregate product requirements into clear work tickets for the engineering team
- Intimate familiarity with agile SDLCs and the ceremonies involved and are very comfortable leading them and continuously improving them
- Worked with Shopify extensively and are well-versed in its key concepts and how it can be customised and extended (within and externally) to meet specific eCommerce requirements
- Substantial understanding of relevant technologies (web development, PHP, APIs, RDBMS, AWS, interaction of frontends with backends) to effectively lead and challenge our engineering team and ensure that architecture and designs are appropriate, pragmatic, and secure
What the job involves
- Lead our engineering team through delivering high-quality enhancements to Untamed’s software products and platforms in a timely, predictable manner
- Ensure we have a clear prioritised backlog of work ready to be scheduled into sprints: review incoming “software change requests” from our stakeholders and triage, clarify, validate, create accurate tickets for the engineering team, and add them to the backlog
- Act as scrum master and lead all agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, demos, retrospectives, etc.)
- Ensure that proposed technical implementations are appropriate and pragmatic by performing detailed reviews of designs/architecture/algorithms proposed, and challenging the team as appropriate
- Take charge of non-trivial initiatives, ensure that they are delivered within agreed constraints and parameters, and keep the management team informed of progress and issues
- Lead a continual improvement process: Track appropriate engineering performance metrics, ensure that the team’s performance doesn’t regress and take reasonable steps to optimise processes and remove impediments so that the team can do its job as efficiently and unimpeded as possible
- Ensure that pragmatic technical and process documentation exists and remains up to date, both as an aid to efficiency but also to avoid frequent “reinventions of the wheel”

Unlike most industry leaders, Untamed allows cat owners to receive a personalised and tailor-made food plan with a science-based approach.
