Who you are
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent
- 7 years of engineering experience
- Experience with Typescript, React, Next.js, Redis, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, S3, and Kubernetes
- Experience shipping mature backend systems at high scale
- Excited to primarily be an individual contributor with a ton of ownership
Desirable
- Experience working with UX designers to build delightful frontend user interfaces
- Desire to work in an early-stage, fast-paced environment with a degree of ambiguity
- Ability to work during a daily overlap of a few hours with the rest of the team (starting 14:00 UTC)
- Excellent communication skills in English
What the job involves
- We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer at k-ID, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our public web applications and providing a positive digital experience for our game studio partners and their end-users
- Lead the technical design of a Next.js web application, working with UX designers and junior engineers to build a responsive, user-friendly interface, while implementing best practices for web performance, scalability, and maintainability
- Lead the launch and scaling of our product to support tens of partners and tens of millions of concurrent users
- Ensure that backend and frontend systems operate smoothly in production by triaging and resolving operational issues
- Be a champion for security best practices in the frontend and backend, to protect sensitive user data against emerging threats
- Conduct code reviews and mentorship to elevate team capabilities and product quality
- Help build a positive and inclusive work culture

K-ID’s first-of-its-kind compliance engine is integrated into platforms by game publishers and is used by some of the largest video games in the world. Parents and publishers can set parameters for children, including restrictions on in-game purchases and private chats. Ultimately, k-ID makes gaming safer for young people, so developers and publishers can focus on building the products players love.
As the first-of-its-kind, it's no surprise that k-ID has amassed plenty of funding from large investors like Andreessen Horowitz and Lightspeed Ventures. k-ID’s founders have the CVs to match, having worked in leadership roles at the likes of Tencent, EA and Google, combining legal and compliance credentials with a solid knowledge of video game development.
