Role
Who you are
- We are looking for a Director of Engineering who has a strong background in people management, technical strategy and execution, and the ability to help grow our organization
- Top candidates bring clarity where there is ambiguity and can work autonomously to research and uncover solutions
- 7+ years experience leading a team
- 12+ years of overall development experience (languages such as Python, Go, and PHP are accepted)
- 0-1 Product and team development
- Experience planning and leading development efforts on large projects
- Previous experience leading and mentoring teams and driving them toward big goals with consistent execution
- Previous experience in a service-oriented architecture
- You are an excellent communicator who can succinctly explain deep technical concepts
- Experience leading Agile/Scrum ceremonies
- Previous experience working within a balanced engineering and product team
- Experience with MVC frameworks for backend development
- Availability for participation in on-call rotation, ensuring prompt and effective responses to business-critical alerts outside of regular working hours
- Authorized to work lawfully in the United States of America as Calendly does not engage in immigration sponsorship at this time

- You will work directly with the VP of Product Engineering building a brand new product line for Calendly

- Hiring engineers to build out both new and existing squads for the company, with oversight on all team members that get hired onto the squad

- Coach, mentor, and onboard new engineering team members
- Ensure the career development, satisfaction, and productivity of the engineers on your team
- Identify future technical needs and create plans to meet them

Our take
Calendly is a cloud-based scheduling service that is straightforward to use. It allows around 10 million customers per month to connect and make appointments based on their available times without having to send emails back and forth.
The platform offers four different plans - allowing individuals, small companies, and large enterprises alike to make use of these services. Calendly's growth to date been based mostly around a very organic strategy. Its invites become links to Calendly itself, so people who like it can, and do, start to use it.
There are a handful of competing products on the market, including offerings from Doodle and Microsoft, but Calendly's customer-friendly design has won it attention and allowed it to carve itself a space in the field. Impressive funding has contributed to the company's expansion, allowing it to capitalize on the increasing popularity of home and hybrid working.
