Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field
- 3-5 years proven experience as a Data Engineer with a focus on data-related and AI projects
- Proficiency in modern programming languages to help define and help build out the architecture & framework for our software with expertise in Python and SQL a must
- Strong expertise in data processing, ETL, and data warehousing concepts and tools
- Experience with building, optimizing and maintaining databases in Postgres (or similar) a must
- Experience with Airflow for data workflow management is crucial with DBT a plus
- Knowledge of data modeling techniques and best practices
- Hands-on experience with modern data integration tools and frameworks
- Deep familiarity with AWS Cloud and their data-related tools/services such as Lambda, Athena, Kinesis Firehose, etc
- Proficiency in developing and maintaining RESTful APIs and services for data access
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, data scientists, and analysts to understand and meet data requirements
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize data pipelines
- Knowledge of data security and compliance standards and best practices
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
What the job involves
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines to collect, process, and store data from various sources
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, and to help design, architect, and build our data schemas and our software
- Create and optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to clean, transform, and enrich raw data from multiple sources
- Partner with other engineers to design and implement RESTful APIs and services for data access within the organization's applications
- Build and manage databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and scalability
- Develop and maintain data models for efficient storage, retrieval, and analysis of information

- Work on data warehousing solutions to organize and centralize data for efficient querying
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, addressing issues related to data quality, performance, and reliability
- Support the development of reporting and analytics features by providing accessible and well-structured data

College athletics is a huge industry in the US but has often come under fire for its lack of transparency and bad economic treatment of college athletes. Scorability is a software company trying to increase the transparency and honesty of college athletics through its recruitment engine.
Marketed to coaches at all skill levels across various college sports, Scorability’s engine aims to identify, engage and attract the best sports players for the clients’ programs. Coaches and scouts benefit from efficient searches and athletes benefit from a more direct and transparent recruitment process.
Due to the unique nature of the US college sports ecosystem, Scorability is yet to develop products that will draw in more international clients. However, that hasn’t stopped the company from amassing an impressive seed funding round that it has channeled into building its team and bringing its software to market.
