Role
Who you are
- Time spent in software engineering roles is of course important, but we prioritise attitude, aptitude, and the kind of impact you’ve had over years' experience. Ideally you’ll have:
- Have around 3+ years or more experience in software development
- Have worked as a software engineer with Ruby on Rails
- Are self-driven and take responsibility for product outcomes, doing whatever’s necessary to make things happen
- Able to work take on loosely defined tasks, communicate with stakeholders and break the work down into smaller deliverables
- Experience with (some of) the following: TDD, Kafka, Git, JS, Heroku, HotWire
- Experience working in distributed teams and working cross-functionally with Product managers, designers, user researchers and other developers,
- Write code to be maintained – with good documentation, tests, and structure
- Are keen to learn continuously, share knowledge, communicate effectively and build a product in close collaboration with others

- You'll be supported by one of our Engineering Managers who are there to help you with your career progression and ensure that the team you are on are working as well as they can - continuously improving!

- Software engineers at Carwow work on cross-functional product teams of Product Managers, Engineers, Designers and Data Analysts
- You will work closely with a Product Manager and a Tech Lead on deciding what features to build for customers, break down and build features with the team, review code, mentor engineers, ensure operational excellence, and share knowledge broadly across the engineering organisation

As the largest web platform for new car sales in the UK, Germany, and Spain, Carow has grown rapidly through innovative marketing strategies. One of its key tactics is leveraging it massive YouTube following, which boasts nearly 10M subscribers. The videos feature a mix of in-depth car reviews and entertaining drag races, helping to engage potential customers and drive traffic to the platform.
Over 10M customers now use the platform to buy and sell cars and in 2023, nearly £3B worth of cars were bought through the platform. Carwow continues to grow and innovate, and with its strong customer base and expanding partnerships, it's ready for continued success.
