What the job involves

Alteryx is searching for a Principal, Cloud Platform Architect. This position is remote-friendly
Alteryx is modernizing its cloud platform to power next-gen enterprise analytics and AI. We're seeking a Principal Cloud Platform Architect to define the technical vision for our multi-tenant, multi-cloud infrastructure — leading cross-cutting initiatives across infrastructure, platform engineering, SRE, security, and product engineering
This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll set architectural standards, drive major modernization efforts, and ensure the platform scales securely and reliably
Cloud Platform Modernization — Define the long-term multi-cloud, multi-region architecture; lead migrations and drive cloud-native adoption
Kubernetes & Platform Infrastructure — Architect shared platform services (networking, compute, storage, APIs) for scalable SaaS
Reliability & Operational Excellence — Partner with SRE on availability, disaster recovery, and observability; design for fault tolerance and capacity
Cross-Platform Architecture — Set standards and patterns across services, APIs, and deployment models; guide teams through modernization
Platform Enablement — Improve CI/CD and developer tooling with Platform Engineering; make infrastructure easily consumable by product teams
Own the long-term architecture for Alteryx's cloud platform, driving migrations and modernization initiatives
Design highly available, scalable architectures across compute, networking, storage, and platform services
Establish reference architectures and best practices; run architecture reviews for security, scalability, and reliability
Partner with Infrastructure, Platform, SRE, Security, and Product Engineering on strategy and execution
Evaluate emerging technologies, prototype approaches, and address architectural debt
Mentor senior engineers and raise architectural maturity org-wide
This role shapes the technical foundation of Alteryx's next-gen SaaS platform — ensuring it's secure, resilient, and scalable as we grow our analytics and AI capabilities

Our take

Alteryx brings a suite of tools to automate data driven processes on a large scale, massively speeding up data based procedures. The system also uses AI to analyse data and provide insights to enable rapid decision making.

What Alteryx does differently from other data science tool developers is focus on the accessibility of its software, taking a low code/no code approach. This allows for greater collaboration between people with differing skill sets, speeding up processes for its users.

The business has made some strategic partnerships over time, most notably with Snowflake and Blue Prism. And with AI becoming more, Alteryx is projected to make major inroads in its market as more companies turn to automated solutions for data analysis.
