Who you are

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in data science with strong business background in consumer
  • Strong fluency in SQL, Tableau. Python is a plus
  • Proven ability to succeed in collaborative environments with cross-functional stakeholders and also in independent work environments
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively to audiences of varying technical levels

What the job involves

  • As a Senior Programs and Business Operation Manager you will be responsible for business analysis, recommendations for business strategy, and special data projects for EMEA
  • Building data support and run analysis to determine key business trends on supply, demand, product, and make recommendations to country managers
  • Delivering data and insights to enable the company’s growth efforts
  • Providing mentorships and support to junior country business analysts and in close partnership with Advanced Analytics team
  • Build tools and equip teams in EMEA (Country Managers, Business Operations, Business development) with the relevant data support to make actionable decisions
  • Deep dive on trends to support planning cycle and business performance review
  • Assist to leadership inquiries, providing data driven insights driven insights quickly and accurately by leveraging tools such as SQL, excel and Tableau
  • Work with FP&A + and Advanced Analytics to assess business performance (across multiple forums) and deep dive into areas of strength and weakness of the countries
  • Enable functional leads to provide consistent information to their teams and stakeholders
  • Create materials to communicate strategy and business performance to key stakeholders
  • Analyses into new markets expansion performance
  • Analyses into new product and marketing campaigns
  • Partner with marketing and product team to better understand ROI and drive actions
  • Liaise with functional teams (comms, marketing) to provide business recommendation and inform functional priorities and initiatives
  • Assist ongoing projects with progress tracking and measurement capabilities such as performance dashboards

Our take

When Airbnb was originally founded, the product helped customers book air mattresses on people's apartment floors. Since then, Airbnb has had over a billion customers hosted through its platform. With more than 4 million registered hosts worldwide, it has grown into a major player in the hospitality sector.

Airbnb has been successful in disrupting the traditional holiday lettings sector. Before it existed accommodation was limited to hotels and bed and breakfasts, but Airbnb has mainstreamed the idea of renting out spare rooms or even entire homes. It has created a new sector of hosts purchasing properties to rent out on the platform and provides a level of flexibility and a range of offerings not previously possible for travelers.

Perhaps a victim of its own success, by 2022 supply of Airbnb-listed properties began to outstrip demand in some markets, as hosts overestimated the appetite for domestic travel. However, the company is still posting strong financials and has unveiled new tools to support its hosts in a tougher rental market. With a healthy bottom line and a huge user base, Airbnb is very likely to overcome the current market turbulence and continue its growth.
