Role

Who you are

  • We're looking for a Social Media Manager, fluent in French and English, who knows and loves anime
  • 5+ years of experience in social media or community marketing, either in-house or at an agency, in entertainment or media
  • You are fluent in English and French, with excellent grammar and spelling
  • You’re knowledgeable and passionate about anime, with a strong understanding of fandom culture
  • You know major social platforms inside and out, tailoring content for each and guiding others on best practices
  • You’ve launched creative, successful social campaigns, including paid media
  • You use data and analytics to promote growth and engagement
  • You have intermediate or higher skills in Adobe Photoshop or similar tools
  • You understand fandoms in French-speaking markets—whether anime, gaming, comics, sports, music, or pop culture

What the job involves

  • You will focus on creating compelling social content tailored for EMEA audiences, including original and localised campaigns. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Social Media EMEA, you'll collaborate with global teams and partners to bring anime to life across platforms. If you’re all about anime and fandom culture, this role is for you!
  • You will manage daily social media content, community engagement, and marketing campaigns
  • You will create and localise content for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube
  • You will work with global teams and agencies to build social strategies
  • You will support content launches with engaging organic marketing tactics, especially for French-speaking audiences
  • You will monitor social trends and insights to keep our content relevant
  • You will collaborate with the editorial team to bring traffic to Crunchyroll News
  • You will maintain Crunchyroll's authentic voice while promoting fan relationships
  • You will track and report on social media performance
  • You will occasionally support social channels during nights and weekends
  • You will manage paid social media campaigns and explore new platforms and trends

In recent decades, anime - encompassing Japanese, Korean, and Chinese animation 0 has transitioned from a niche interest to a formidable industry, boasting a global market worth approximately $30B. Despite this growth, distribution has historically posed challenges, with series and films often reaching overseas audiences through disparate channels, if at all. Crunchyroll emerged to address this issue by consolidating the largest collection of anime into a single streaming service.

Sony's acquisition of Crunchyroll in 2021 for $1.75B expanded the platform's reach, integrating Sony's extensive animation library into its offerings. this move also positioned Crunchyroll for heightened competition against streaming giant Netflix, known for its substantial investments in anime production and acquisition. Currently, Crunchyroll maintains an unrivaled library of anime content, boasting over 44,000 episodes that have attracted over 0M paying subscribers.

While Crunchyroll initially offered a free, ad-supported tier to its vast community, it appears poised to phase out this option, transitioning to a subscription-based model for all new series. Despite this shift, the platform has implemented a global reduction in fees to stimulate subscription uptake. The success of this strategy remains to be seen, but past experiences with companies like Hulu suggest that it may drive subscription growth and mitigate piracy
