Role
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related field
- 3+ years of experience in a role working with AWS and/or GCP IaaS services eg. compute, object storage, iam, networking, vpc
- Experience with Terraform, K8s (GKE/EKS), Data Pipelines (Beam/Flink/Kafka/PubSub/SQS), ML Pipelines, Object Storage (S3/GCS), Big Query, etc. is a plus
- Experience managing large scale cloud infrastructure with IaC
- Highly proficient with modern Unix/Linux operating systems/distributions
- Experience defining SLOs/SLIs and implementing monitoring, alerting, and runbooks
- Adaptable. Goals can change fast. You anticipate and react quickly
- Autonomous. You own what you work on. You move fast and get things done
- Excellent communication. You will need to communicate complex ideas effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, and both verbally and in writing

What the job involves

- You’ll ship agentic capabilities on an open, extensible stack, with the craft and care required for enterprise trust, as we bring Work AI to every employee, in every company
- Glean is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to build and evolve the platform that powers a highly available, performant, secure and cost effective infrastructure across all clouds
- You’ll deliver complex components with elegant automation, robust uptime guarantees, autoscaling, and reliable alerting/monitoring for infrastructure that runs across multiple cloud providers
- As part of the Platform team, you’ll be responsible for critical pieces of Glean’s infrastructure, working closely with several other teams to support their workloads
- Oversee the entirety of your greenfield features from inception to implementation, experimentation, launch and beyond
- Provide leadership and mentor more junior engineers
- Work with designers, product managers, data scientists, and other engineers to understand our problem space and create elegant solutions
- Write robust code that’s efficient, easy to read, maintain and test
Our take
Glean is an intuitive digital assistant which allows employees to search across all their apps and find the information and tools that they need more quickly.
With so many SaaS apps being used by modern day companies, overwhelm and inefficiency inevitably enter the equation. Glean’s search engine is proving popular for how it unifies and centralizes all these distributed tools and data.
It’s been quite a start to life at Glean, having only emerged from stealth in 2021, it received a $1 Billion valuation in early 2022, thus achieving unicorn status, and has received nearly $400 million in funding so far. The SaaS platform is already used by some major companies including Grammarly, databricks, and Rubrik.
That Glean was co-founded by a quartet with senior experience at Google, Microsoft, Uber, and Facebook stands the company in good stead. However, it’s the fact that its search engine is solving a new, but very real problem in the workplace that’s seen its popularity surge so quickly, which it’s likely to continue to do in the future. Its adaptability to include new AI capabilities to its platform, such as generative AI, has Glean well set to see further growth.
