What the job involves
- Reporting to the Senior Risk Manager, you will play an integral part in providing an effective Risk and Controls function
- As Risk Manager, you would be working to ensure risk management is in place and embedded across OVO – in particular, you will support colleagues in our Energy Management & Optimisation and Finance teams, as well as other OVO teams, as needed, to understand and help manage their operational risks
- Partnering with operational leaders to deliver risk management services across OVO
- Working with team members across OVO to support and embed risk management
- Facilitating the identification, analysis and evaluation of risk
- Providing advice to Risk Owners on the suitability of controls, key risk indicators and key control indicators
- Being responsible for ongoing monitoring of risks against the Risk Appetite set by the OVO senior team
- Assisting the periodic review of the Principal Risks and Risk Appetite for OVO
- Producing value-adding reporting on risk to ensure stakeholders at all levels can make informed decisions
- Supporting the development of a culture within OVO that understands risk and enables risk-based decision making
- Depending on the needs of your business area, we expect hub based people to be in the office at least once a week, and to go to OVO Connection events in-person

It's analysing meter data to deliver easy, personalised actions, turning electric vehicles into power stations with clever chargers, and building energy-efficient heaters. For households, it's offering is organised into four different energy plans, that include interest rewards on energy credit balance.
In 2020, OVO completed the acquisition of SSE Energy Services' retail arm for £500 million, meaning that the challenger brand now has around 4 million customers in the UK.
While helping Ovo members halve their carbon footprints, the company is also working towards becoming a net zero carbon business by 2035. The challenges ahead for the company include encouraging consumer behaviour change, shifting towards subscription models for home energy use.
