Who you are
- Highly business-oriented and comfortable with iterative processes
- A good communicator who can present complex topics clearly and persuasively to different audiences
- Comfortable with constantly changing environment and able to structure your own work
- Able to balance between analyses depth (time needed) and business impact
- Intermediate experience (mid-level seniority) in analytical / data field in the industry or academia
- Statistically proficient (e.g. regression analysis, A/B testing)
- Proficient in SQL and experience in an analytics language (Python, R, etc.) as well as BI tools (Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.)
- Excellent at communicating in spoken and written English
- Advantage: Experience working in the logistics or adjacent industry (e.g. quick commerce)
What the job involves
- Decision Scientists are responsible for actionable insights, identifying and sizing opportunities, and developing automated tools that increase the quality of product and business decisions by applying statistical methods and data-driven decision making
- We’re looking for a Decision Scientist to join the Network domain within Vinted Go
- As a Decision Scientist in the Network domain, you will, among other projects, build upon the existing definitions of the performance metrics of our carrier portfolio, automate their tracking, discover ways to optimise the services provided, and provide insights for the product and business teams on the optimal ways to reach agreements with third party carriers
- You will closely work with the Director of Product, Network, and other Decision Scientists in the domain. You will report to the Director of Data Science & Analytics, Vinted Go
- Collaborate with the Director of Product and specific teams and stakeholders on projects within the Network domain to identify strategic opportunities, and answer key business questions. The opportunities will be related to third-party carriers’ cost optimisation where even small improvements can have millions of euros impact, their performance, delivery network development, and our agreements with them among other topics
- Ensure these questions are answered in an optimal fashion (e.g. in the form of an ad-hoc deep-dive, experiment, dashboard, or automatically recurring analysis)
- Analyze identified opportunities to understand their scope and impact (i.e. size opportunities)
- Set up and own the key performance indicators for the domain, including selection, forecasting, and proactively flagging issues
- Enable your team and direct stakeholders to independently leverage data for business insights via dashboarding tools (Looker)
- Inspire the usage of data & analytics within the domain to make data-driven decisions

For many years, the online fashion resale market was dominated by eBay. Vinted, first set up as a local website, has challenged the incumbent market leader by shifting focus towards sustainability.
Vinted has managed to compete successfully with other eCommerce platforms by providing more creative and personalized ways to shop, and focusing solely on fashion. With 75 million users it outstrips other fashion-focused competitors in this space, such as Depop which has roughly half the user base, but it sees its real competition in retailers that sell new clothing.
Vinted has raised significant funding which it has invested into rapid expansion, growing its presence in European markets and scaling up its US operations. While in the short term this has caused its profitability to drop, this expanded market reach is likely to yield dividends in the very near future.
