Who you are
- We are specifically interested in candidates who have previously constructed core banking systems, payment gateways, card processing systems, and booking platforms
- Proven track record of building complex payment-related systems, such as core banking, card payments processing engines, stock exchange platforms, or similar
- Strong background as a Backend Software Engineer, displaying hands-on expertise in backend system development
- Familiarity with modern DevOps concepts, enabling effective collaboration with DevOps teams
- Proficiency in micro-service architecture development, demonstrating the ability to create scalable and resilient solutions
- Fluent in English, enabling clear communication in a diverse team and international context
- Creative thinker with meticulous attention to detail, consistently aiming for the highest quality through iterative approaches
- Open to feedback, both as a mentee and mentor, contributing to the supportive and empowering team culture at Monite
What the job involves
- We are searching for an experienced and forward-thinking Solution Architect who has successfully executed payments-related projects in fintech, ticketing systems, stock exchanges, or gambling domains
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design and architect sophisticated payment-related systems, including core banking, payment gateways, card processing engines, and other high-volume transactional systems
- Drive the planning, execution, and management of payments projects across diverse geographies, specifically in the EU, US, and Africa
- Leverage your strong technical background to ensure the implementation of best practices in backend software architecture, API design, and event-driven systems
- Utilize your extensive experience with micro-services architecture to design scalable and resilient solutions that cater to Monite's global API product
- Work collaboratively with DevOps teams, even if you're not a DevOps engineer yourself, to comprehend and contribute to the implementation of modern DevOps practices
- Demonstrate excellent English communication skills, facilitating effective interaction in an international and dynamic work environment
- Mentor and be open to mentoring, fostering a culture of learning and growth within the team
Our take
Generating income as an SaaS depends on subscription and payment processing fees, but adding such financial features to digital products can take weeks. Expensive software engineers who specialise in fintech must be employed if the job is to be achieved quicker, and that is before further obstacles are raised such as compliance and API integration.
Monite provides a fully embeddable API suite of fintech tools, allowing SaaS clients to add accounts payable automation, invoicing, and other brandable financial services to their digital products. The company's services are designed to be fully compliant automatically and are available as both an embeddable solution and as a white-label product.
Whilst it is undeniable that other companies provide similar services to Monite, the company has recognised the importance of speed - facilitating rapid development through its API. The company ultimately aims to use this advantage to bring financial automation and other cutting-edge fintech tools to smaller SaaS businesses, and funds raised will help it steer towards that goal by closing more deals - with a focus on the US - and continuing to develop its offerings.
