Role
Who you are
- Degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Engineering, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related discipline); an advanced degree is a plus
- 4+ years of experience in an analytical role, applying data-driven insights to solve business challenges
- Proven experience building descriptive and predictive models to drive decision-making
- Proficiency with modern business intelligence tools like Looker, Tableau, or Mode
- Advanced SQL skills and experience working with large, complex datasets
- Hands-on experience with dbt or similar data transformation tools
- Proficiency in multiple analytical tools and scripting languages, such as Excel, Python, or R, with a strong grasp of statistical concepts and A/B test design
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex analyses to non-technical audiences
- You ensure the accuracy and consistency of reporting and analysis through data cleansing, transformation, and ongoing stewardship. You think two steps ahead to identify potential roadblocks and have contingency plans to address them
- You connect changes in top-level metrics to the underlying drivers and create compelling visualizations to emphasize key findings. You also effectively communicate results to audiences at all levels of the organization
- You are always up for a challenge and view reporting and analysis as opportunities to recommend tactics and strategies that improve the business. You are open to feedback in the interest of delivering continually better output and growing as a professional
- You know how and when to engage with your stakeholders and teammates effectively. You view yourself as a partner in the decision-making process and build trust through goal alignment, process transparency, and world-class output
What the job involves
- The appetite for reporting and analysis increases daily as we grow and improve our programs, platforms, products, and features for our community of customers, Runners (what we call our delivery drivers), and restaurant partners
- We are looking for a Senior Analyst to join our Business Analytics team. In this role, you will leverage first- and third-party data to generate insights about our customers, Runners, restaurant partners, and products
- You’ll form strong relationships with internal stakeholder teams and provide the analytical foundation that drives strategy and success in their respective areas
- Design and Implement Scalable Analytics Solutions: Design and implement robust analytics solutions to effectively measure the impact of product features, programs, and operational initiatives
- Balance Tradeoffs to Drive Decision-Making: Partner with stakeholders to provide data-driven insights to balance efficiency with fair, competitive compensation for Runners while ensuring pay structures shape Runner supply to meet customer demand
- Develop and Automate Reporting Tools: Maintain self-service reporting tools to give stakeholders real-time access to key performance insights
- Conduct Deep-Dive Analyses: Own and drive the analysis for key initiatives around user behavior, marketplace dynamics, and operational performance to drive strategic decision-making. Present complex insights to non-technical stakeholders
- Identify and Resolve Data Gaps: Proactively address data completeness, consistency, and accuracy to enhance the integrity of our data ecosystem
- Leverage Advanced Data Modeling: Apply data modeling and transformation techniques to improve the accessibility and usability of critical business data
- Uncover Optimization Opportunities: Evaluate existing business processes, experiments, and growth strategies to uncover optimization opportunities
- Grow the Knowledge Base: Contribute to the collective knowledge base of the Business Analytics team through process documentation and technical mentorship
Our take
More and more people are looking to get things delivered fast, and businesses are trying to find inventive ways to meet the demand and get people’s purchases to them as quickly as possible. Favor solves this problem, with an on-demand delivery service that depends on “runners” to get products to customers quickly.
Customers can browse on the Favor app and select items from their list or input items from other stores in the delivery zone, and Favor runners will collect the item and deliver it within an hour. For customers in a hurry, this is obviously appealing. While many on-demand delivery services struggle to scale, Favor itself has managed to scale its operations across Texas and expanded into Philadelphia in mid 2022.
This centralization has given the company an advantage over competitors who have since gone out of business, but it isn’t yet clear if other competitors will imitate Favor's approach to gain market share. The company faces strong challenges from deep-pocketed rivals like DoorDash and Uber Eats.
