Who you are
- Proven experience leading analytics teams and delivering actionable insights in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge and experience with Financial Modeling
- Experience in a company running many AB tests simultaneously and be able to design and run such tests in a similar environment
- Deep expertise in analytics tools and workflows (dbt, Looker/Omni, Snowflake, or similar)
- Strong strategic thinking: able to prioritize high-value initiatives and drive continuous improvement
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, bridging technical and business audiences

What the job involves
- We’re looking for a strategic, hands-on leader to drive Tala’s analytics organization to the next level
- As Senior Analytics Manager, you’ll lead a team of analysts, standardize analytics processes, and ensure our data drives high-impact business decisions across product, finance, operations, and beyond
- This role is central to shaping how we measure, understand, and optimize our business performance
- You’ll partner with business leaders and the Data Platform team to deliver reliable insights, scalable processes, and actionable analytics that empower decision-making across the company
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 8 to 12 analysts, building skills in SQL, BI tools, experimentation, and storytelling
- Own the analytics delivery process: manage a shared backlog, prioritize high-impact initiatives, and ensure consistent, measurable outcomes
- Standardize analytics workflows, documentation, and QA to ensure reliability and scalability
- Partner with stakeholders across Finance, Product, Operations, and Credit to prioritize analytics efforts that maximize business impact
- Collaborate with the Data Platform and Analytics Engineering teams to maintain a stable, accessible, and well-documented analytics layer
- Advocate for tools, processes, and practices that enhance analytics efficiency and data-driven decision-making
Our take
Billions of people across the globe are unable to access traditional forms of credit, typically because of a lack of credit history or inconsistencies in their records. When making credit decisions, banks will rely on third party credit scores, whilst online lenders look at an applicant's financial history.
Tala is addressing this shut-out segment with an innovative model to assessing eligibility for a loan. Focusing on behavioral data tracked through its Android app, it creates a custom credit profile by analysing a customer's texts and calls logs, merchant transactions and overall app usage. Its machine learning algorithms then evaluate individual risk and provide instant loans.
More than 2 million people in emerging markets in countries such as India and Kenya have borrowed through Tala. The business has lent over $1 billion to consumers to date and is now scaling up its operations in India. It does face competition from the likes of Branch, but has nonetheless made promising strides thus far.
