Role
Who you are
- Production judgement. You’ve operated infrastructure in production and make thoughtful trade-offs when reliability, security, and speed collide
- Platform mindset. You enjoy building secure, reliable foundations that help teams ship faster and safer
- Strong engineering fundamentals. You write clean, maintainable code - ideally in .NET (TypeScript is a plus)
- Hands-on cloud experience. AWS (or similar) across networking, IAM, databases/queues - and Kubernetes
- IaC + delivery. Comfortable using Terraform and working with Kubernetes delivery workflows (Helm/Kustomize/ArgoCD)
- Team-first & clear communication. You enjoy unblocking others, improving how we work, and communicate well in English
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Backend/Platform Engineer to join us in making the energy transition happen – maybe that’s you?
- The Platform team empowers a great engineering experience by owning shared services, cloud infrastructure, and our Authentication/Authorization foundation
- As a Backend/Platform Engineer, you’ll help empower our engineering teams through great foundational services, best in class developer experience and a robust platform built on a modern tech stack
- You’ll join a team of three and work across Tibber Engineering - unblocking teams, diving into production issues, and shaping best practices that scale
- This role requires both production level coding experience as well as a platform mindset
- Build and maintain production code (.NET + some TypeScript)
- Own and evolve shared platform services and cloud infrastructure
- Own platform tooling and infrastructure as code (Terraform)
- Run Kubernetes workloads and delivery flows (Helm, Kustomize, ArgoCD)
- Contribute to AuthN/AuthZ (OAuth2)
- Raise the bar on safe delivery (testing/validation, rollout patterns, deployment practices)
- Drive improvements via PoCs and join the weekly “goalie” rotation to unblock teams and troubleshoot
- You’ll also be part of our on-call rotation (we’ll share the setup during the process)

Our take
The average household today is in a position to purchase electricity from a range of suppliers, but classically will only buy from one. Tibber supplies an AI for households to purchase energy from a number of suppliers, at the best prices at the best time of day, to reduce their electricity costs, alongside helping them to reduce usage in their homes.
The platform was built as a response to outdated utility management tools. Users access the service via an app, with the AI purchasing electricity automatically at the lowest possible price, as well as alerting customers to consume energy during the cheapest hours of the day.
The Tibber hub for smart homes is able to connect various energy sources, such as solar panels and EV chargers, to enable more intelligent electricity production as well as consumption. The company has seen huge amounts of investment, serves hundreds of thousands of households, and has its sights set on continued expansion across Europe.
