Who you are
- You are strongly motivated by building a category-leading company disrupting the finance and energy sector
- You have 2+ years of experience in a financial, operational, or product role
- Strong data and analytical skills with a close attention to detail and highly organised
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn and grow within a fast-paced environment
Desirable
- Proficiency in Excel and data analysis
- Some prior knowledge / experience of any aspect of consumer lending such as underwriting, loan servicing, payments, credit risk, financial compliance or risk management
- Some knowledge of Credit Reference Agencies (e.g. TransUnion) such as the types of consumer data available, how to access it and what it means
- Some familiarity with tools to automate and enable processes such as Hubspot/CRM
- Some experience managing supplier relationships
What the job involves
- Report directly to the Head of Compliance and Lending as the first hire in the Lending team
- Support day to day underwriting activities by applying our policies to decide who we can lend to using a variety of data sources and information from customers. You will also need to speak to customers directly from time to time to resolve any queries
- Support on broader aspects of lending including loan servicing and payments. Develop your knowledge to eventually become a subject matter leader across the full lending product stack
- Interact with customers to resolve queries as well as collaborate with teams such as Product & Engineering, Sales and Operations
- Manage strategic projects to optimize underwriting processes and technology. You will take a lead role in identifying opportunities, testing and iterating ideas, using data to monitor performance, refining requirements and rolling out solutions
- Support with governance and control to maintain accurate records and ensure data integrity within our systems. To do this you will need to conduct data analysis and reporting and collaborate cross departmentally
- Support with the management of a suite of third party suppliers across the lending product stack

Our take
Sunsave, founded in 2022, is on a mission to make solar energy and battery storage accessible to the mass market. It removes the upfront costs and provides a subscription service that takes care of everything - from installation to maintenance - so that more UK households can save on their energy bills.
The model is designed to remove the biggest barrier to solar and storage adoption - the ~£10k typical upfront cost and long payback period - allowing customers to save on their energy bills from day one. They do so through Sunsave's all-in-one subscription that includes finance, installation, monitoring, maintenance, and a Virtual Power Plant, helping them get the most out of their system.
The green company has already attracted the attention of blue-chip VC funds such as Norrsken, the UK Department of Energy, and household name entrepreneurs, including Michael Spencer and Stuart Rose, raising ~£11M in funding and growing to ~30 FTEs. This will be used to fund its expansion into complementary products such as EV chargers and heat pumps alongside tariff optimisation and energy insight software. It's also the first UK company to achieve full FCA authorisation for a solar power platform, as it brings the tried and tested solar subscription business model to the UK. In doing so, it hopes to build the country's first decentralised home energy platform and revolutionise households' relationship with energy.
