Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. MBA preferred
- CPA certification is a plus
- Minimum of 3-4 years of management experience in accounting, with a strong focus on AP/AR functions
- Solid understanding of technical accounting principles and practices
- Experience working at Big 4 is a plus
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards
- Experience with balance sheet reconciliations, flux analysis, general accounting entries, and audit processes
- Familiarity with sales tax filing and revenue recognition principles
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and ensure accurate contract recording and revenue recognition
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Experience with NetSuite ERP systems required
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
What the job involves
- Vagaro is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee our General Accounting, Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions
- This is a hands-on role that requires working closely with the entire accounting department and contributing to balance sheet reconciliations, general accounting entries, and the audit process
- The successful candidate will also be responsible for flux analysis and other ad hoc projects as assigned
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and collections
- Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to improve the efficiency of Accounting processes
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations, perform general accounting entries, and support month-end and year-end closings
- Conduct flux analysis to identify significant variances in financial statements and provide insights on financial performance
- Work closely with external auditors and tax teams to manage the help with audit process and ensure compliance with accounting standards
- Collaborate with other departments such as sales, legal, and marketing to ensure that all contracts are properly recorded and revenue recognition is accurate and compliant
- Provide technical accounting guidance, particularly in areas related to revenue recognition, accruals, and complex transactions
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing activities related to AP/AR
- Take ownership of ad hoc projects as assigned by senior management, ensuring timely and accurate execution
- Mentor and manage accounting team (AP/AR professionals), ensuring continuous development and training
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices within the accounting function
