Role
Who you are
- Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field of study, plus two years of experience in the job offered, or in a related occupation
- Must possess at least two years of experience in the following technical skills:
- Scaling and re-architecting infrastructure
- Distributed systems
- Building and hiring teams
- Operating Systems Concepts: Networking, POSIX, Multi threading
- Algorithm Design and Development
- Data structures and algorithms development and functionality
- Managing at least 10 full-time engineers directly
What the job involves
- Build and manage team(s) of engineers and define our culture and best practices
- Manage broad areas, such as reliability, scalability, and security, or domain areas, such as blockchain tools ecosystem, the blockchain core, or the Move language and ecosystem
- Develop a solid mental model of the product and its future direction, working cross-functionally with other stakeholders, to guide infrastructure investments for current and emerging business needs
- Facilitate team planning including the prioritization, sequencing, and staffing of work
- Work with others to shape how Mysten Lab’s engineering organization operates, develop technical practices, build recruiting and onboarding strategies, and more
- Recruit, coach, and develop engineers and ensure engineers are regularly receiving feedback and making progress on personal and professional goals
- Keep up with industry trends and understand Mysten Lab’s architecture and how it needs to evolve inside and out
- Influence design reviews, incident postmortems, and technical direction through the credibility that your technical expertise brings
- Navigate the fast moving, unstructured nature of a hyper-growth startup, setting the engineering quality bar for the long-term success of our business and making difficult prioritizations
- Telecommuting is permissible

Our take
Mysten Labs was created with the ambition to build a blockchain comparable to Ethereum or Solanan - but with even greater capabilities. That means tackling pain points currently found in blockchain technology, like scaling transactions and speed to meet growing demand.
To do this, Mysten is building foundational infrastructure for Web 3.0 which supports the accelerated development and adoption of decentralized services. The startup is determined to build a platform that finally lets Web 3.0 developers focus on UI, without compromising on security.
The company has focussed on expanding partnerships with existing networks such as Ethos and Orange Comet Partners, who have integrated Mysten technology, as well as open protocols based on Mysten-designed components. Ensuring that it assigns developer and community outreach resources in the right places will be crucial to building a sustainable business in this relatively young space.
