Who you are
- 2+ years of experience as a software developer or engineer
- Proven experience in ownership of development projects where you were a key factor in driving measurable positive outcomes
- First principles approach to software development
- A strong vision for where the industry is going, and staying on top of new technologies and stacks
- Passionate and familiar with dApp developers, cryptocurrency, and blockchain technology
- Experience with popular web3 libraries (ex: Foundry, Viem, Hardhat, etc.) is a plus
- Previous experience in web3 or blockchain companies/projects is a plus
- Crypto experience, especially knowledge of Ethereum & L2s is a plus
- Excellent communication skills as a strong technical writer is a plus
What the job involves
- Creating and executing plans and processes to improve developer experience
- Supporting scaling and curating developer tools
- Unblocking developers facing technical questions and issues
- Pushing out content targeted towards platform developers, including technical blog posts on new features, platform design, issues, and upgrades
- Engaging our developer community on Twitter, Discord, Discourse, Stackoverflow, and Github
- Supporting our courses and educational materials
- Improving and maintaining documentation so it’s accessible to developers at all levels
- Leading a voice of the customer program to ensure we bring feedback from technical customers back into our product roadmap
- Cooperating with Marketing and Business Development leads to improve developer-facing product positioning and communications
Our take
While the Ethereum network offers users highly rated security, the trade-off is that its network volume isn’t sufficient to support fast, cheap transactions. Matter Labs is one of a small number of companies that are building scaling protocols through its zero-knowledge proof-driven product, zkSync.
It’s not the only company of its kind, with the likes of Arbitrum and Optimism also receiving plenty of publicity and funding. However, Matter Labs' zero-knowledge proof approach has been praised for both its transaction speed and security. If it were easy, however, many more companies would be doing it, so it appears that Matter Labs has made a significant headstart on the competition.
Over the last couple of years, the startup has secured some major funding from high-profile investors such as Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), and Union Square Ventures. Matter Labs released its renamed ZkSync Era - a zero-knowledge, open-source security platform on Ethereum in 2023. Matter Labs is now predicting zero-knowledge cryptography to outlive alternative "optimistic" security tech from the likes of Arbitrum.
