Systems Development Engineer, Netskope

• Systems Development Engineers possess significant prior experience as Systems and/or Network engineers and also have an aptitude for Software Development
• 5 - 7 years of experience automating production environments/infrastructure via code at scale
• Hands-on experience operating and automating large, highly available production environments
• Passionate about and comfortable with learning new technologies, systems, and architectures
• Strong automation development experience using Python or a similar programming language (e.g. Ruby, JavaScript, etc.)
• Experience using code to integrate existing services and software to automate the configuration and operation of Linux systems and/or networking devices
• Experience writing and integrating RESTful HTTP APIs
• Extensive experience with Linux systems (such as administration, configuration management [e.g. salt, ansible], core OS concepts)
• AND/OR Networking (load balancing, switching, routing, configuration management automation [e.g. salt, ansible], BGP, virtualization)
• Knowledge of Linux virtualization and containers (e.g. KVM, qemu, docker, cgroups, kubernetes, etc.)
• Familiarity and experience integrating code with NoSQL (e.g. Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.) and traditional relationship databases (e.g. MySQL, Postgres)
• Experience with source control tools such as git or mercurial

Desirable

• As a member of Netskope’s Infrastructure Automation team, you will be responsible for designing and building automation platforms and tooling to support teams across all of Netskope
• You will have the opportunity to help internal customers automate their business, manual, and technical operations
• You will work closely with various teams within Netskope, understand their problem space, and jointly develop automation roadmaps
• From there, you will develop and maintain automation platforms (or extend those already existing) to transform the way our teams think about and execute repeatable and/or high-volume tasks
• Design, code, and maintain automation and auto-remediation APIs and platforms within Netskope
• Design and code integration of various systems and services to provide net-new functionality to internal and external customers
• Think architecturally, with extensibility and self-service in mind; develop and grow platforms first and tools when necessary
• Use strong technical judgment to balance long-term design and development goals with short-term delivery for impact
• Use existing knowledge of systems and/or networking to distill ambiguous technical problem spaces into technical architecture and manageable technical milestones
• Influence engineering peers and teams toward automation
• Write detailed technical documentation such as architectural overviews, operational runbooks, and technical opinions
