Role
Who you are
- Bachelor or Higher in relevant scientific field
- Minimum 3 years Business Development / Sales Experience in UK healthcare services industry (pathology, laboratory etc.)
- Knowledge of & experience with UK healthcare regulations and requirements
- Successful track record in B2B sales with strong negotiation & persuasion skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer oriented mindset with passion for helping clients to meet their goals
- Strong project management skills - ability to plan & manage commercial projects
- Independent problem solver
- Creative, organisational and analytical skills
- Candidate must hold a valid passport and full, clean drivers’ license
- Candidate will be required to travel to represent the company at customer locations, trade exhibitions & promotional events within the UK and EU region (50%+ Travel Time)
- Ability to undertake travel to international training events and conferences as required
- Must be fluent in English
Desirable
- Experience working within pathology, laboratory, oncology, academic medical centres and/or clinical services
- Experience with Digital Pathology
- Experience in field-based client relationship management or sales a distinct advantage
- Familiarity with healthcare or pathology services specifically in the UK
- Familiarity with clinical guidelines and regulations
What the job involves
- Identify and develop business opportunities in UK in order to establish customer base
- Take a lead role in the development of proposals and presentations for new business materials to create and nurture business opportunities and partnerships
- Develop and implement overarching outbound sales and business development strategy, sales processes, structure, and best practices
- Support deal structure and pricing with business value analysis; negotiate prices for proactive bids and proposals
- Keeping up to date with regional marketing trends and developments and acting as the regional market advisor to wider business
- Identify trends and customer needs, building a short/medium/long-term sales pipeline in accordance with targets
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of marketing strategies to achieve strategic goals
- Introducing new product / service developments to prospective clients
- Acting as representative of the company at regional trade shows, conferences and events
- Maintain and share professional knowledge through education, networking, events, and presentations
- Complete all mandatory company training and job specific training required for the role, including ISMS, GLP, DocuSign, SDLC as applicable
Our take
Pathologists are the core of diagnostics, but face increasing pressure as diagnostic complexity increases and the number of pathologists is in decline. This systemic strain means turnaround times for diagnoses are longer, and the chance of diagnostic error is higher. Deciphex is looking to address this with a regulated non-clinical pathology platform.
Deciphex has institutional and headline support, has collaborated with AstraZeneca and Janssen, and participates in a research program with pharmaceutical company Charles River. Reports suggest the platform has seen impressive uptake in the preclinical sector, so in spite of being relatively young, this specialist niche is in high demand.
This all means Deciphex is in a strong position to keep expanding its suite of tools and platforms. Its 2025 round of funding will support expansion across the US, UK, EU, Canada, and Japan. The company is also looking to enhance its capabilities, strengthen existing partnerships and broaden the type of customer it serves.
