What the job involves
- The Strategy and Operations Coordinator plays a critical role in keeping the Buyer organization operating smoothly, aligned, and connected
- This role focuses on coordination, enablement, and organizational health—ensuring that teams stay informed, leaders are supported, and cross-functional work moves forward efficiently
- As the central hub for communication and operations, the Coordinator helps Buyer teams execute with clarity and predictability, without owning product strategy or decision-making
- This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Director, Engineering
- The Buyer X Coordinator keeps BuyerX running smoothly and connected
- The role focuses on coordination, communication, and operational clarity to help leaders and teams stay aligned. Over time, the Coordinator grows into a trusted operational partner, shaping how the organization collaborates and executes alongside BuyerX leadership and cross-functional peers
- Operating rhythms and process coordination: Design, coordinate, and maintain processes, tools, and operating rhythms across the BuyerX Group, to ensure the team has clarity on what’s happening, what’s expected, and when
- Planning and reporting: Support BuyerX Group in company-wide processes (e.g., SFP planning, goal-setting, CEO and org-wide reviews) by coordinating participation, managing content and required inputs, and tracking key deadlines for all cross-company deliverables
- Communications and event operations: Draft, coordinate, and manage internal communications (e.g., newsletters, org updates, all-hands content, presentations) while maintaining clear, transparent communication channels between Buyer leads and their teams
- Keep distribution lists, Slack channels, and other communication pathways accurate and up to date—reflecting new hires, exits, and org adjustments
- Plan and execute team events, offsites, and department-wide gatherings in partnership with Buyer leads and key stakeholders
- Program management: Support priority projects as needed by gathering information, organizing materials
- Strategic operational support: Ensure leaders are prepared for meetings/events with materials, agendas, and logistics. Partner with other Coordinators, Program Managers, and Executive Assistants across Etsy to ensure alignment
- Represent BuyerX leaders with professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in internal and external interactions. Serve as a trusted coordination partner, anticipating needs and helping the org stay aligned
- Build trust and connections across all layers of the BuyerX group, developing situational awareness of cross-group dependencies. Proactively flag challenges, opportunities, and other relevant updates to BuyerX leadership
- Track L&D activities, expense reports, budget elements, and other operational enablers that keep the Buyer organization functioning smoothly
- Administrative support for [VP, ET Direct and/or Group Lead*] - Manage leaders’ calendars, travel, and other scheduling assignments, as needed

Our take
Created as an alternative to more corporate eCommerce sites, Etsy is a peer-to-peer (P2P) website where users buy and sell handmade crafts, vintage items, art, and photography. The online marketplace works similarly to Amazon and eBay, only with an emphasis on unique items rather than mass-produced merchandise.
Since its IPO in 2015, it has managed to hold its own in an increasingly competitive eCommerce industry, including from Amazon's handmade section that launched in 2015. Further, by providing sellers with ownership over pricing and branding, the site is attractive for those wanting to set up a business on an established platform.
However, the seller-side of Etsy is not without problems. The recent hike in transaction fees and the introduction of mandatory marketing fees for artists with high turnovers has created significant discontent amongst sellers. Etsy must reconcile these issues to ensure artists continue to operate on the same scale within the platform. It plans to attract shoppers with its message of extraordinary, handmade and affordable products.
