Our take

Barley’s smart compensation platform allows companies to visualize their pay structure on a company scale to ensure that staff are fairly compensated. While every business has some form of compensation tracking system, Barley’s offers advantages – namely the ability to visualize pay bands at scale, and gauge employee compensation expectations.

Given the well documented skills shortage and “Great Resignation” of the last few years, there’s more pressure than ever on companies to give employees enough reasons to stay. Factor into that the long overdue move for gender, racial and ability-based pay equity, and a solution like Barley’s could prove very effective.

It’s early days for the 2021 launched startup, but with the successful entrepreneurial backgrounds of co-founders Jafar Owainati and William Mainguy, as well as the financial backing of Golden Ventures and leaders at Shopify and DMZ, the startup looks set for a period of rapid growth.
