Who you are
- This role requires a combination of strategic acumen, consulting discipline, and practical deal-making experience, ideal for someone who can bring both boardroom thinking and real-world execution to the table
- 8+ years at a top-tier management consulting firm (McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Strategy or similar). Additional strategic leadership experience in the technology, digital infrastructure, or clean energy sectors
- Proven ability to craft and execute high-impact strategies in fast-paced, growth-stage environments
- Demonstrated experience leading complex commercial partnerships or strategic transactions
- Strong communication and influence skills with the ability to engage and align stakeholders at all levels
- Data-driven, with expertise in business case development, market analysis, and financial modeling
- Comfortable operating in international markets and diverse cultural contexts
- Preferred Qualifications Experience in data center, cleantech, energy-efficient technologies, or enterprise IT infrastructure
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree experience with M&A, investment partnerships, or corporate development
What the job involves
- As Vice President of Strategy, you will play a key leadership role in driving Submer’s strategic vision forward
- You’ll lead strategic partnerships, drive market expansion, and identify growth opportunities that position Submer at the forefront of sustainable digital infrastructure
- You’ll partner closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to shape and execute high-impact initiatives, especially those related to commercial growth, market entry, and strategic deals
- Strategic Partnerships & Deal Leadership: Identify, structure, and lead high-impact strategic partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures
- Corporate Strategy Development: Lead long-term strategic planning, market expansion analysis, and competitive positioning initiatives
- Executive Engagement: Advise and support the CEO and leadership team in major business decisions, board preparation, and investor communications
- Growth Planning: Assess and prioritize growth opportunities across regions, customer segments, and product lines
- Market Intelligence: Monitor emerging trends in the data center, cooling, cleantech, and digital infrastructure spaces to inform Submer’s strategic positioning
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to ensure strategic initiatives are market-ready and commercially viable
Our take
Developments in the AI sector have increased the strain on data centres and chips, generating more heat from their processes than ever before. Cooling methods using air and water are not keeping pace with the amount of energy needed to support AI. Submer is on a mission to build data centres and processing plants that are as sustainable as they are efficient.
Submer’s eco-friendly product for data centres and chip processing is built from a coolant of non-flammable, biodegradable and synthetic liquid that physically acts in the same way as water. The racks for servers are stored and operate from within a smart container which further lessens the heat produced by data centres. Submer’s range of products even allows for the coolant to be reused via a heat exchanger.
It’s an inspired solution for an increasingly pressing problem. Data centres are going nowhere, yet the vital need for greener energy solutions puts pressure on these industries. It’s unsurprising then that Submer has raised considerable funding that is being channelled into the expansion of its product. Server component manufacturers are even beginning to build their products to be compatible with Submer’s, indicating the eagerness with which the industry is welcoming the solution.
