To modernise the global wine and spirits industry, propelling the finest products to every corner of the world.

Role

Who you are

  • We’re on the hunt for a talented and ambitious individual ready to tackle hard challenges and enjoy the rewarding career that comes with being part of a fast-growing company with a grand vision and a killer product.
  • 4+ years of DevOps experience. Must have experience working in a startup environment solving early stage platform challenges. Focus on developer productivity, automation and production reliability.
  • Extensive knowledge in relevant DevOps tools, technologies and best practices outside of your day-to-day work.
  • Bachelor's Degree (or above) in Computer Science or similar discipline

What the job involves

  • 🍇 Leading the Ferovinum DevOps Function: You’ll have the unique opportunity to shape our DevOps culture from the ground up. Think of it as being the master of our vineyard—setting the best practices, selecting the right tools, and establishing processes that ensure everything runs as smoothly as a well-oiled corkscrew
  • 🍷 Elevating Our CI/CD Pipeline: You’ll be in charge of fine-tuning our CI/CD pipelines, making sure each release is delivered with precision and speed. Your work will help our code flow seamlessly from development to production, ensuring a smooth and reliable delivery.
  • 🍾 Boosting Developer Productivity: Your role will empower our developers to focus on what they do best—crafting quality code. By uncorking bottlenecks, automating tasks, and streamlining workflows, you’ll help our team innovate faster and more efficiently, with minimal friction and maximum creativity
  • 🍇 Scaling Systems and Infrastructure: As our product offerings grow, you’ll be the key player in ensuring our infrastructure scales with them. From optimising cloud resources to balancing the load, you’ll design systems that can handle whatever we pour into them, keeping everything running smoothly as we grow.
  • 🍷 Growing and Mentoring the Team: Just as a great vintage takes time to develop, you’ll play a crucial role in growing our DevOps team. You’ll help with hiring and mentoring new team members, ensuring that our team is as strong and resilient as our technical foundation.

Our take

Businesses in the drinks industry encounter unique challenges, such as significant liquidity constraints (with funds tied up in stock and lengthy payment terms), an outdated and complex supply chain, and a highly regulated global market that creates friction and barriers to international sales. Ferovinum has developed an end-to-end digital platform that empowers businesses to fund, produce, procure, and sell in global wine and spirits markets.

The producers of spirits and wines are generally small to medium-sized businesses, and Ferovinum’s pitch is that its technology, which provides working capital and supply chain automation tools, will benefit from this rocket-boosted tech. It offers a comprehensive suite of foundational services, including capital funding, supply chain automation, international logistics, and access to global trade channels. The company’s founders certainly have experience in financial management, one having overseen structured commodity financing at the Macquarie Group and the other having a history of executive directing restructuring for investment banks.

With production and distribution tools at its disposal, Ferovinum offers predictive inventory management, seamless integration, and international logistics. Its one-size-fits-all technology has already benefitted some of the oldest scotch whiskey distilleries in Scotland on a pilot scheme, funded by a ÂŁ100 million investment in Ferovinum in 2021. Though still in its early days, the company seems set to attract more clients as its technology evolves.
