Who you are
- Operational experience
- Structured problem solving - knows how to solve ambiguous problems, can up-level, doesn’t get lost in details
- Analytical skillset - comfortable with various modes of quantitative analysis (e.g. financial modeling, data analytics, SQL), and capable of presenting up-leveled insights for executive audiences
- Strong relationship building and communication skills
- Familiarity with project based work, frequent shift of focus and topics, learning new content quickly (typical for consulting or bizOps functions in tech companies)
- Commercial marketplace experience
- At least 6 years experience
Desirable
- Former experience with consulting or banking background + experience in a tech company, especially with products that have offline component
- Experience in relevant industries (e.g., Ride Hailing, Trucking, Delivery)
- Experience with commercialization / go-to-market strategy (e.g., pricing)
What the job involves
- The Strategy & BizOps team drives and executes against the company’s go-to-market strategy
- We leverage quantitative and qualitative analysis to create long-term business strategies and help execute on Waymo’s commercial deployment
- The team is analytically driven, with a proactive mentality, focused on finding and delivering on high impact projects
- This role follows a hybrid work schedule and reports to the Head of Strategy & BizOps
- Drive go-to-market strategy - lead various GTM strategy projects with broad scope and executional experience
- Conduct rigorous qualitative or quantitative analysis and effectively distilling insights (“so what”) from them
- Work with cross-functional teams to align various perspectives and inputs from technical and commercial functions
- Advance business modeling and analysis such as value driver and scenario analysis responsibilities
- Lead Waymo expansion strategy projects
- Distill insights and recommendations for leadership

Our take
Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company that began as the Google self-driving car project in 2009. After initial development, it secured permits to deploy autonomous ride-hailing services in cities including Phoenix and San Francisco, but has recently hit a major bump in the road with safety concerns that resulted in a recall of over 400 self-driving cars.
With the autonomous driving industry already besieged by setbacks and public distrust, this development does Waymo no favours. That said, as an industry leader there remains the possibility it will see out the storm, but massive attention will need to be given to rebuilding trust with consumers if this is to be the case.
