Role
Who you are
- This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of investment performance and attribution, who can work closely with the Vise Engineering team to ensure our platform meets the highest standards for data accuracy, analytics, and performance reporting
- 5+ years of relevant work experience and education that demonstrate strength in financial calculations
- Strong understanding of performance measurement, portfolio attribution, portfolio analytics, and investment operations in equity, fixed income, alternatives, and derivatives
- 3+ years of working with custodian (or similar) data feeds and portfolio accounting systems
- 3+ years of experience working with engineering teams, ideally within fintech, investment management, or financial technology, to develop and implement data-driven solutions
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into business impact
- Detail-oriented and organized: maintains meticulous records, manages information accurately, and ensures that all tasks are completed with a high degree of precision and thoroughness
- Excellent time management skills: balances multiple projects and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, effectively prioritizes tasks, and stays focused and productive under pressure
- Strong communicator: writes and speaks clearly and professionally, and actively shares information in a timely manner with relevant audiences
- Eager to learn and solve problems: independently solves problems, displays a positive attitude, and seeks opportunities to learn and grow

What the job involves
- Vise is looking for a performance expert and business leader to own and drive the evolution of our performance analytics and investment operations systems
- Own the success of performance analytics as a product, continuously iterating based on user feedback and business needs
- Architect Vise’s investment performance calculations infrastructure and functionality
- Define and document all procedures for daily custodial reconciliation
- Independently create prototypes for all performance-related deliverables and processes
- Partner with Engineering and Investment Operations to define and execute a roadmap that enhances performance reporting, data integrity, and analytics capabilities
- Drive cross-functional collaboration, ensuring alignment between technical execution and business goals
- Develop and prioritize requirements to optimize performance measurement, portfolio insights, and investment data workflows
- Work with engineering teams to scope, implement, and test new tools and features, ensuring scalability and accuracy
Our take
Registered Independent Advisors (RIAs) face hot competition in a sector where 60% of global assets are managed by institutional investors. Part of the latter's edge, however, comes from market leading analyst teams and tools – and Vise has developed an AI-driven automated platform to fill this shortfall for RIAs.
The platform uses AI to automate the building and management of client portfolios, so RIAs can focus on cultivating client relationships. It has been proven a popular prospect – Vise secured a valuation exceeding $1 billion at the close of its 2021 Series C funding round, and its managed assets have quadrupled in recent years.
Vise also leverages an interesting niche that could shore it up against the industry-disruption of robo-advisors like SoFi and Wealthfront. Whilst robo-advisors are good for smaller asset classes, they lack the sophistication to manage and grow complex asset portfolios. They also lack the human touch which remains extremely important to the vast majority of investors even in a tech-led investment landscape. Vise's product is therefore an astute middle-of-the-road compromise.
