  • Experienced scoping and implementing data-driven solutions to ambiguous problems, prioritizing efficacy over complexity

What the job involves

  • We’re looking to bring on a data scientist to join our small but growing data team. Trustworthy, actionable data plays a critical role in Pomelo’s mission to improve pregnancy outcomes
  • As a member of the data team, you will generate data and insights that informs both our business decisions and the care that we deliver to patients
  • Become an expert in the data that Pomelo has about our patient care and clinical outcomes, and play a foundational role in building the data culture of Pomelo
  • Build data pipelines and dashboards that support teams including Marketing, Clinical, and Partnerships, and enable us to improve and scale the care we provide to patients
  • Develop algorithms to identify high priority patients and guide clinician engagement and interventions
  • Execute analyses to quantify the effectiveness of our clinical program on improving patient outcomes (e.g., reducing the rate at which babies end up in the NICU)
  • Identify opportunities to use data to improve how we provide patient care, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop and implement new tools, models, and processes at the point of care

Our take

Pomelo Care, a New York-based virtual maternity care platform, is dedicated to enhancing maternal and newborn health outcomes by providing accessible and personalized care. By merging evidence-based practices with innovative technology, the company strives to transform the landscape of family care.

The platform's model provides continuous, proactive 24/7 care through a dedicated multidisciplinary team. This team utilizes data-driven insights to predict and identify potential risks early, offering personalized and evidence-based care protocols. With convenient access through a mobile app, Pomelo Care provides individuals with the support they need, while simultaneously reducing the strain on emergency resources and lowering the risk of complications during pregnancy, postpartum, and infancy.

The company is poised to see further platform adoption, with 2024 funding enabling it to strengthen its existing partnerships with Medicaid Managed Care organizations, employers, and academic medical centres. As Pomelo Care continues to extend its reach and impact, its commitment to accessible and personalized virtual care is well set to make a substantial contribution to addressing the national maternal health crisis.
