Role
Who you are
- You have several years of experience with AI, more specifically with NLP
- You are interested in the latest development with GenAI and LLMs
- You have practical experience in deploying ML solutions to production
- You believe in our mission of making education globally accessible
- You have a good understanding of the product and enjoy coming up with new ideas
- You have practical experience working with Python and SQL
- Bonus: You have several years of experience in software development in a start-up environment
- Bonus: You have practical experience with Golang, and/or PostgreSQL
What the job involves
- Have a big social impact by leveraging AI to provide better education to millions of students
- Work closely together with the founders on new AI initiatives
- Own and work on the whole machine learning stack (including backend integration and MLOps)
- Train, fine-tune, and evaluate machine learning models
- Architect, design and develop our machine learning platform capabilities and infrastructure to be able to serve millions of users across 9 different countries
- Work on a code base that is used by millions of users
- Take strategic product and technical decisions together with the founders
- Work with and learn from other experienced engineers while collaborating on particularly difficult technical challenges
- Work in a fast-paced start-up environment and bring new products and features to the market on a very regular basis
Our take
Demands on the education system are changing at a rapid rate, and Knowunity is one of a wave of EdTechs looking to revolutionise education and meet the demands of Gen Z.
Knowunity sets itself apart from most online education platforms, that tend to offer traditional tutoring/teaching systems, by being a completely peer-to-peer platform. The site relies on student creators (called "Knowers"), who share their notes and guidance with their followings. This flatter and more collaborative system has proven popular, with the platform now boasting millions of users.
After establishing a strong user-base in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Poland, the company went on to launch into the UK and Italian markets. Fresh funding will see Knowunity eye up further expansion into the US, alongside Spain and possibly further continents in the near future.
