Who you are
- We are looking for engineers who can build the robust, scalable and compute-optimised infrastructure that powers the trust of our clients
- We’re looking for someone hands-on, eager to learn, and ready to take ownership of meaningful building blocks with support from a senior team
- We're looking for innovative and rigorous minds that have a solid technical background, and a track record of helping their team grow
- With at least a first experience in a similar role: Software Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, Cloud DevOps
- Strong knowledge of AWS cloud (or others) environment and infrastructure is mandatory
- Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub, and automation workflows is a plus
- Proficient English, with the ability to communicate effectively in professional settings in English as the candidate will work with teams distributed across EU/JP
- Strong programming skills (Java, C# etc.)
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations
- Software engineer with cloud infrastructure fundamentals: You can build software, not just configure tools

What the job involves
- You will work with the rest of the software engineers in the Pricing product team across two time zones (Europe & Japan), serving as the primary technical reference for cloud infrastructure while remaining a contributing software engineer
- Build and evolve Akur8’s cloud foundations - contribute to the strategy and execution across compute and orchestration, ensuring our platform scales reliably and securely as usage grows. This includes resilience, and performance-minded infrastructure design
- Improve the general Software engineer experience during development. Rework the CI/CD pipelines, improve the dev environment setup automations, re-organise the terraform code and git workflows
- Raise the bar on operational excellence - improve observability (metrics, logs, tracing), strengthen incident response practices, and help make on-call sustainable through automation, runbooks, and better systems - not heroics

Our take
Putting the correct pricing on insurance has always been a challenge for insurers. Pricing too low can decimate profits, but pricing too high is a sure-fire way to drive off customers. Despite this importance of pricing, it has generally remained a human task, and therefore prone to errors and biases.
AKUR8 wants to change this, delivering an AI-based solution that automates pricing modelling for insurers, while maintaining the transparency and control required by regulators. By leveraging machine learning, the platform enhances insurers’ pricing processes, reducing modelling time whilst increasing predictive power.
Recently, AKUR8 has expanded its platform with Rate Repo and Deploy, providing a unified, end-to-end actuarial workflow from model creation to live deployment, and with AKUR8 Discover, integrating AI-driven market and regulatory intelligence from AMatrisk. These tools give insurers a single source of truth for pricing, faster operational deployment, and actionable insights from unstructured filing and competitive data.
Alongside this, the company is backed by some serious funding and a global expansion strategy. And now empowers insurers like AZA, Generalis, cementing its position as a next-generation, end-to-end actuarial platform.
