Role
Who you are
- 10+ years of commercial experience in SaaS or digital marketing, with a strong record of success in enterprise sales
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing sales teams within high-growth technology or adtech environments
- Proven ability to close complex, multi-stakeholder enterprise deals
- Deep understanding of digital advertising, media buying, and marketing automation
- Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills with a player/coach mindset
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage C-level stakeholders
- Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus
- Willingness to travel across the region as required
What the job involves
- The Director, Enterprise Sales - Central & Southern Europe will lead Smartly’s commercial success across key markets in the region
- This player/coach role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution — managing a team of high-performing Account Executives while also owning a personal book of enterprise global accounts
- This is a unique opportunity for a driven, entrepreneurial leader who thrives in both strategic and client-facing environments
- You will work closely with marketing, customer success, partnerships, agency and product teams to accelerate revenue growth and expand Smartly’s presence among enterprise advertisers
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of two Account Executives and one Sales Development Representative based in Berlin, ensuring consistent performance and professional growth
- Set clear goals, forecast accurately, and implement best-in-class sales practices
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence within the team
- Personally own and manage a portfolio of high-value enterprise accounts, including global brands with multi-market operations
- Drive the full sales cycle: from strategic prospecting to complex deal structuring and closing
- Build and maintain strong C-level and senior stakeholder relationships with key clients and partners
- Achieve and exceed regional revenue targets and individual sales quotas
- Define and execute the go-to-market strategy for Central & Southern Europe, in alignment with Smartly’s EMEA growth objectives
- Identify new business opportunities and partnerships across target verticals
- Work cross-functionally with Agency, Customer Success, and Product to ensure customer success and long-term retention
- Represent Smartly at industry events, conferences, and executive meetings in the region
Our take
Smartly.io helps advertisers automate their campaigns across the largest media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest. After seeing quick success following Facebook’s 2012 IPO, the company now works with over 700 brands including eBay, Uber, Ralph Lauren, Under Armour and TechStyle.
Its suite of tools automatically creates ads and videos from product images - handling budget allocation and audience targeting, as well as analysing where and when to purchase advertising. Consequently, Smartly.io has positioned itself to play a leading role in a market where brand and performance work are converging.
Smartly.io sold a majority stake to Providence Equity Partners in 2019 in a move to further its presence in the US. The company has since gone on to make several acquisitions of its own with Viralspace.ai and Ad-Lib.io. Smartly.io's ability to adapt to evolving advertising trends supports its continued growth, and its introduction of AI-powered intelligence across its platform shows it is keeping up with technology trends too.
