Role
Who you are
- Strong experience developing backend applications in TypeScript
- Experience with database design and optimization (SQL or NoSQL)
- Understanding of event-driven systems and message queues
- Experience and passion for leading and mentoring more junior engineers
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (ideally within AWS) and serverless architectures is required
- A passion for building high-quality software with a strong customer focus
- A proactive and problem-solving mindset, thriving in ambiguity
- A strong team player who enjoys working collaboratively and sharing knowledge
- Experience with frontend development in React is a plus
- If you’re passionate about building robust backend systems but perhaps don't have deep experience with TypeScript but keen on learning, we’d love to hear from you
What the job involves
- You'll be joining the Kaluza Technology community. We’re a large team of both data-led and product focused Software and Production Engineers, pushing the boundaries of technology and working at an extraordinary scale
- As a collective we strive for engineering greatness and by ensuring best practices across the board of the community
- You’ll be working on the Kaluza’s Energy Retail platform
- This is a SaaS technology platform that aims to revolutionise the operating platforms for energy retailers globally
- This platform has been built with scale and technical quality in mind and is the foundation for decarbonisation efforts by Kaluza’s customers
- We use a diverse set of technologies to deliver our services. We don’t expect you to arrive with experience of all of them, but you can expect to learn about and get hands-on with many technologies, including Typescript, Scala, AWS, Terraform, Kafka and Datadog
- We believe our team members should have the possibility to be involved in all aspects of our delivery
- From the outset, you will be involved in all team activities including development, design, support and testing to name a few
- We do not expect you to have a wealth of knowledge in our domain as this is something you can build up over time with the help of our experienced engineering team

As the globe moves further towards sustainable use of energy in the coming years, Kaluza could be very well positioned to capitalise.
