- You have at least 3-4 years of professional programming experience

What the job involves
- Stitch Fix is seeking an experienced engineer to design and build the next generation of API tooling and infrastructure to empower our engineering teams. Our mission is to enable product development teams to focus on solving critical product challenges by providing intuitive, safe, and autonomous API tools
- As part of the API Platform team, you'll develop key infrastructure that supports customer- and internal-facing systems, guiding scalable and effective solutions to meet the evolving needs of our business
- We use modern practices like TDD, continuous delivery, DevOps, and service-oriented architecture to build sustainable, high-value products that address clear challenges and deliver long-term impact
- Help design, develop, and continue to grow infrastructure and tooling that directly supports product development teams
- Have a significant impact on the API offerings at Stitch Fix by helping define standards, best practices, and performance targets for our GraphQL API
- Be an owner of highly visible, high-impact, cross-team projects
- Collaborate with stakeholders while leading the technical discovery, decision-making, and execution of complex and/or critical projects within the team
- Operate as an engaged member of the engineering team - leading meetings, attending ceremonies, providing input on technical design documents & project plans, pairing with other engineers to work toward a solution, etc
- Proactively communicate status updates or changes to the scope or timeline of projects to stakeholders and leadership
- Share the responsibility of directing the team’s investment in impactful directions
- Contribute to a culture of technical collaboration and scalable, resilient systems
- Work within a distributed team of software engineers and cross-functional partners who are passionate about their craft
- Have high responsibility for deliverables and will be helping to guide what you work on

Our take
Shopping online for clothes is not always a fun experience. Finding clothes you like is only half the battle. Sizing guides and return policies seem to have been designed to be challenging to understand, and can also vary wildly from company to company.
Stitchfix sets out to change this by making online clothes shopping personalized and hassle-free. Customers take a survey on their personal tastes, and pay a one-off fee for a stylist, to receive a box of 5 personalized items. Then, they simply pay for any items they keep, or return what they don't want free of charge. The stylists fee is deducted from the first purchase and if they keep all 5 items, they receive a discount.
Stitchfix's unique blend of technology, and human touch in styling, allows the company to deliver its personalized experience at scale, with its growing data sets putting them in a great place to predict consumer trends and preferences. Unfortunately, the company has been hit hard by the current economic climate - cutting staff back in June 2022 as well as again in early 2023. Only time will tell if this once exciting brand will be able to bounce back from this bump in the road and find success again in the future.
