Role
Who you are
- 12+ years of relevant experience in DevOps and infrastructure management
- 8+ years working in production environments, combining DevOps and software engineering
- 5+ years of experience managing containerized infrastructure in Kubernetes or ECS
- Proficiency in automation, creating reusable patterns and solutions
- Expertise in GitOps practices and CI/CD, including tools like ArgoCD and infrastructure automation within CI/CD
- 5+ years of experience with AWS cloud technologies, utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform
- Proficient in TypeScript in a software engineering environment
- Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational databases (e.g., DynamoDB)
- Experience guiding software engineers in production best practices, sharing knowledge across teams
- Design and deployment experience with data sovereignty-driven designs (e.g., GDPR)
- Collaboration with other engineers to build tools and systems supporting services and facilitating high-quality software delivery
- Willingness to be on-call

What the job involves
- At Crunchyroll, our Core Infrastructure Engineering team forms the foundation on which our services are built and directly influence our customer experience and the velocity of our engineers. Our team focus is to ensure that our developers are enabled, self-service, that everything about our infrastructure is automated and that our services are highly reliable and scalable
- As a Staff DevOps Engineer within the Core Infrastructure Engineering team, you are essential in automating and scaling the systems and services that power our streaming platform. You will work with our SRE team, delivery teams and lead projects related to infrastructure automation, scaling, CICD, driving them forward to completion and ensuring that the platform processes, automation and best practices are being followed
- In collaboration with other engineers, you develop tools and systems that support services and facilitate high-quality software delivery and architecture / infrastructure. You are expected to be highly collaborative working across teams to understand the needs, establish best practices and automate them whenever possible
- You will report to the Senior Manager, Core Infrastructure Engineering and this role may be fully remote in the United States

Currently, Crunchyroll maintains an unrivaled library of anime content, boasting over 44,000 episodes that have attracted over 0M paying subscribers.
While Crunchyroll initially offered a free, ad-supported tier to its vast community, it appears poised to phase out this option, transitioning to a subscription-based model for all new series. Despite this shift, the platform has implemented a global reduction in fees to stimulate subscription uptake. The success of this strategy remains to be seen, but past experiences with companies like Hulu suggest that it may drive subscription growth and mitigate piracy
